Learning from one another to cement educational and research partnerships

Education is an area in which China and the UK both enjoy worldwide renown. Now, as China’s growth

calls for ever-more sophisticated technical skills and research, British institutions are forging deeper ties

with Chinese counterparts across this sector, from training programmes to university exchange

partnerships and research collaboration.

CBBC has identified education as a key sector for Sino-UK growth. The Chinese education sector is a

large and growing market in which the UK has much both to offer and to gain.

British universities and colleges will discover demand for exchanges and research. Training organisations

will find a market for internationally recognised qualifications. Institutions of all kinds will continue to

see a widespread appetite for English-language teaching.

The CBBC Education Programme 2014 offers a broad syllabus of activities to enable British educational

October Market Visit (Provisional Cities - Shanghai-Chengdu-Xiamen):

UK Further Education & Vocational Colleges visit to China

Designed for British further education colleges and other institutions seeking opportunities

in vocational education, continuing professional development, executive training and

accreditation.

Focusing on a range of partnership opportunities and cooperation potential in course

delivery, curriculum design, employer engagement, teacher training and qualification

systems.

Suitable for a range of sectors, including financial and professional services, management

and English-language training, as well as the broader manufacturing and emerging service

September Market Visit (Provisional Cities: London-Manchester-Edinburgh):

China’s Universities visit to the UK

Visit to the UK by leading Chinese universities with specialisms in the healthcare sector.

Designed to further discussions about collaboration in this sector and to investigate

academic-commercial partnerships.

Discuss trends in UK and Chinese healthcare with peers in your field. Explore joint research

and academic programmes with partners specialising in the same subjects.

November Market Visit (Provisional Cities: Beijing-Shenyang-Xian):

UK Universities Specializing in Advanced Engineering visit to China

Designed for UK universities, colleges and training companies with a focus on engineering

and innovation. Specific emphasis on building relations with aerospace, automotive and

energy faculties in Beijing, Shenyang and Xian.

Delegates will have opportunities to discuss joint development programmes and the future

of advanced engineering in education and business with a range of Chinese institutions
