CAMP BLUE ACTIV ITY L ISTS

JAN 2020 NORTH SYDNEY & MANLY

6th - 10th 13th - 17th

North SydneyArt - Art is OPEN TO ALL AGES – Children will complete 2 or 3 different art activities over

the week aiming to utilize different skills.

Aqua Games – Fun and games in the pool including ships and sailors, raft building and

relay races! SNR Campers with good swimming ability ONLY

Basketball - Campers will get the chance to play a lot of modified games which will

help improve their basketball skills. This activity the campers will be split into JNR and

SNR.

Book Club - Campers will get the chance to unwind in the final period of the day and

enjoy some quiet reading time.

Chess - Open to all ages and levels. The basics of Chess will be taught, and those who

have played before will be extended with 1 on 1 matches (when possible) and more

challenging moves.

Chiefs Good Vibes – Our oldest campers can take this time to relax, and choose what

games/activities they would like to do for this period.

Cricket – Finding the future Ward learning cricket skills to play a camper vs. counsellor

game at the end of the week!

Cooking (Full Week Campers) - Open to all age levels. Your camper will learn knife skills,

kitchen etiquette, and food nutrition. Campers will have the opportunity (pending their

enrolment) to make a number of fabulous culinary creations.

Creative Writing/Script Writing - The campers will have the chance to create short

stories and practice their writing skills. Campers will also get the chance to compose a

script for the campers in Drama to perform.

Double Dutch – An old favourite returns! Campers will skip to their hearts content,

making up routines and learning new skills as they go.

Drama - July camps drama will be given a play to perform and will include a musical

theatre component to the activity. The drama class will also work closely with the

creative writing class to create a play.

Glee (Full Week Campers) - Campers film a video clip throughout the week to a chosen song and this is played to the whole camp on the final day. Hip Hop Dance - Teaches your campers different styles of hip hop dance, campers will perform a lyrical hip-hop inspired performance for the rest of the camp at the end of the week. Makerspace - Open to all ages. STEM is a rapidly growing program throughout the Australian Schools Curriculum and at Camp Blue, we have embraced many aspects of this program in different activities such as art & craft and P&E – BUT at Camp Blue, we embrace it in a whole new way. Makerspace is a place where the campers will have a chance to create, produce and be inspired. Newsroom - Campers will get the chance to document the daily news of Camp Blue North Sydney. This will be in the form of creating a Camp Blue Daily newspaper and also videoing the live news. Photography – Campers will learn about the different styles of photography and how to utilize the different camera settings on their cameras. Children will take photos for the end of session slideshow for families – whilst we have a camp camera for children to use, we do encourage children to bring their own digital cameras Swimming – Lessons offered to all ages and abilities. Campers will be assessed to determine their swim level and taught appropriate drills and skills to improve their swimming. Synchro Swimming – Campers will have the opportunity to put moves to music in the pool! This will be for SNR Campers with good swimming ability only Tennis – From perfecting that serve, to strengthening that back hand and refining that smash, Camp Blue tennis sessions have it all.. with a whole lot of fun mixed in along the way. Yoga - Stretch, breathe, hold and relax. Allowing the kids to de-stress and build core strength throughout the week! Zumba – Aerobic fun and dynamic! Making fitness fun with great music – Zumba is for ALL ages and abilities 9Square - the ultimate handball game in the air!

Manly Beach

Art - Art is OPEN TO ALL AGES – Children will complete 2 or 3 different art activities over the week aiming to utilize different skills. Beach Games – A chance to play and enjoy the beautiful Queenscliff Beach.  Campers will have a say in the games and activities that are played each day. This will not involve swimming. Chess - Open to all ages and levels. The basics of Chess will be taught, and those who have played before will be extended with 1 on 1 matches (when possible) and more challenging moves. Chiefs Good Vibes – Our oldest campers can take this time to relax in their area, and choose what games/activities they would like to do for this period. Beach Cricket – Finding the future Ward learning cricket skills but having fun. There is nothing more Aussie than cricket on the beach. Cooking - Open to all age levels. Your camper will learn knife skills, kitchen etiquette, and food nutrition. Campers will have the opportunity to make a number of fabulous culinary creations. Drama – Learning different aspect of drama, voice, movement and stage presence. Drama is often called upon to help deliver the daily skits at the end of day. Handball – The school yard favourite. A chance to practice the skills for when you get back into the school playground! Hip Hop Dance - Teaches your campers different styles of hip hop dance, campers will perform a lyrical hip-hop inspired performance for the rest of the camp at the end of the week. Makerspace - Open to all ages. Movie Magic - Campers have the opportunity to put their acting and directing skills to the test; recreating a scene from a movie with a Camp Blue spin, or writing their own script, campers will act out and film their very own mini movie.

Newsroom - Campers create the ‘Camp Blue News’ for the week which is put together

as the end of week slideshow.

Photography – Campers will learn about the different styles of photography and how

to utilize the different camera settings on their cameras. Campers will be responsible

for taking the photo's for the end of week slideshow. will take photos for the end of

session slideshow for families – whilst we have a camp camera for children to use, we

do encourage children to bring their own digital cameras

RockPool Swim–  Get wet and have fun at the Queenscliff Rock Pool. Supervised by

qualified lifeguards the campers get to enjoy the water and cool down.

Touch Footy – Learning the skills, drills and game techniques for Touch Football.  Plus

having a game every day!!!

Yoga - Stop, stretch, breathe and relax. Practicing yoga will get our campers calm and

strong!

Surfing

Taking full advantage of the Manly Camp location Campers can have 5 surfing lessons with Manly Surf School. A must in summer!
