About TritonThe company holds British Board of Agrement approvals

and is a BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Assured Company.

Triton was represented on the technical committee

responsible for drafting British Standard BS 8102 (2009)

– the Code of Practice for protection of below ground

structures against water from the ground –

and supplies systems and products to meet the

requirements of all three methods of waterproofing

as defined by the Standard.

To support architects, surveyors and contractors,

a full programme of training courses has been

created including two RIBA approved CPD seminars on

basement waterproofing. More details can be found at

tritonsystems.co.uk/training

Cavity Drain SystemsTriton is the exclusive distributor of Isola Platon cavity

drain membranes in the UK and Ireland. Manufactured

by Isola AS in Norway since 1959, today there is a

comprehensive range available for use in existing and

new build projects to control the ingress of damp

or running water.

The membranes work on the principle of allowing the

damp or running water to travel behind the membrane

to a controlled drainage system. Benefits of cavity

drain membranes over other damp proofing methods

include the minimal disturbance and preparation required

to the existing substrate and their tolerance of structural

movement.

Depending upon the application, an extensive range

of pumps, sumps, drainage channels and alarms is also

available for installation as an integral part of any Isola

Platon cavity drain system. These drainage solutions are

designed to be fully maintainable in accordance with

BS 8102 (2009).

PLATON DOUBLE DRAIN

n a membrane system for external basement walls which protects underlying waterproofing from backfill damage

n filter fabric layer ensures soil cannot enter membrane cavities to impede drainage

Double Drain is installed with the filter fabric facing the

backfill. It is fixed mechanically along its top edge using

Platon X Cramp, which provides tear resistant fixing points.

Specification:In accordance with NBS Specification J40 (clauses

290/295/380) – Flexible Sheet Tanking/Damp Proofing.

Type C Drained Protection in accordance with

BS8102 (2009).

Suitable for use as a Radon barrier in accordance

with BRE Report – BR211 (1999) Radon: Guidance on

protective measures for new dwellings.

Installation:Platon Double Drain can be fixed vertically or horizontally

to suit the application. It must be installed over a primary

membrane, such as Triton Aqueous Bitumen. Fix Double

Drain along the top edge above the primary membrane,

with Platon Double Drain cramps at 250mm centres.

Overlap vertical joints by 500mm and horizontal joints by

150mm. Filter fabric can be pulled back for successive

overlap of the membrane and filter fabric. Fix Platon Top

Edge Moulding along the top edge of the membrane to

avoid debris or backfill material from blocking the drainage

channels. Ensure adequate drainage from Platon Double

Drain to drainage pipes.

AQUA CHANNEL

www.tritonsystems.co.uk10

Triton Aqua Channel is a PVC drainage conduit designed to control water ingress

in below ground situations. It is fitted around the perimeter of the floor at the

vulnerable wall/floor junction and is particularly suited for use in conjunction

with Isola Platon cavity drain membranes. Water entering the building through

the walls is controlled behind the Platon membrane, and diverted down to

the Aqua Channel at the base of the wall. The water enters the Aqua Channel

through pre-drilled drainage holes and must then be diverted to a suitable

drainage point, either natural, or a sump and mechanical pump. As a general

rule a minimum of one sump/discharge point is required for every 50 linear

metre run of Triton Aqua Channel.

Installation and Maintenance: Aqua Channel should be installed on a shallow bed of 20mm stone in a 130mm x 130mm

trough formed around the perimeter wall/floor junction. Aqua Channel outlets should be fitted at appropriate locations.

For ease of maintenance and thorough testing of the system, rodding eyes should be installed at approximately 10 metre

intervals and/or at changes in direction. Pumps should be serviced as required by the manufacturer’s warranty.

More detailed information on installation and maintenance is available on request from Triton or can be downloaded at

www.tritonsystems.co.uk

80mm

50mm

19mm Drain Holes

105mm

Cavity drain systems manage water that penetrates the external structure and direct it to a suitable discharge point.

There is permanent reliance on the cavity to collect groundwater and therefore a need for access points to allow the

system to be maintained. Consideration must also be given to the impact of free lime from new concrete construction.

A suitable anti-lime coating such as Triton Concrete Sealer should be applied to the structure before installation of the

Platon cavity drain system to avoid obstruction to the drainage system and pumps.

1) Channel Outlet: Consists of a 90° PVC bend and a PVC male coupling (with swivel action) which is fitted to the base

of the Aqua Channel to allow water to be taken from it to the water collection point (sump and pump) via a 40mm OD

solvent weld PVC pipe.

2) Channel End Outlet: Where gravity fed drainage is used, this Outlet converts the pentagonal shape of the Aqua Channel into

a round aperture for connection to a 40mm pipe and allows water to be discharged into a ‘P’ trapped gulley or soakaway.

3) Rodding Eye: It is recommended that one rodding eye is installed for every 10 linear metre run of Aqua Channel to

allow periodic cleaning of the drainage system.

PUMPS

Triton offers a comprehensive range of pumps and pump kits which are suitable for

domestic and commercial basements. These include a range of pumps capable of

pumping up to 15m head and 300 litres/minute. Triton’s pump kits are supplied with

sump liner, high level alarms, non return valves and one or two mains powered pumps.

The Aqua Pump Pro range is designed primarily for the new build market. Designed

for easy installation, the sump features flanges to key in to the placed concrete, a

galvanized steel access cover and frame for heavier trafficking and pre-located inlet and

discharge points. Single pump, twin pump and battery back up versions are available.

Triton also supplies high level water alarms as well as control and monitoring panels to

suit specific applications. The range includes mains or battery powered alarms, single

or twin pump alarms, and monitoring and dual assist control panels for when two mains

powered pumps are located within one sump.

GuaranteesTriton approved contractors have access to TUG Insurance Backed Guarantees which are issued for a maximum of 30 years and which cover wall tie replacement, below ground waterproofing and damp and timber treatment. The TUG Insurance Backed Guarantee provides peace of mind to clients by coming into force in the event of the approved contractor ceasing to trade.

Triton also issues its own guarantees to cover the performance of Triton products plus the workmanship of the Triton Approved Contractor. These are designed for contractors who do not issue their own company guarantees. Triton Guarantees are valid for up to 30 years from date of completion of the works (up to 10 years for below ground waterproofing).
