Term 1 - Week 4 18th February 2013
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Dear Parents,
In response to suggestions from parents at the end of last year, we
are trialling the sending home of the newsletter with the eldest in the
family. One of the original reasons for sending it home with the
youngest child was that usually parents check their little ones’ bag
regularly looking for their lunch boxes, jackets or hats. With this
change, hopefully more newsletters will get home. Don’t forget though,
the newsletter is always available on our school website. Any
permission notes that are sent home are also available on the website
to download.
As well, there is an email option for the newsletter. If you would like to
send in your email address, it can be emailed to you. The Department
of Education has been experiencing difficulty with some Hotmail and
Yahoo addresses, so if for some reason the newsletter doesn’t make it
home, please check the website.
As always, at the beginning of the year, there appears to be chaos
with parking outside the school. Please do not leave your car if you
have parked on the side of the road nearest the school. The signs
label that area as a No Parking zone. Should the police or a ranger
be in the vicinity, you will be fined.
Every child’s safety is everyone’s concern.
Denise Rispen ~ Principal
GATE CLOSURE TIMES Mornings 8.45 – 9.30

We understand that parking can be difficult especially on rainy days, but for the safety of for your child and all children, access to these areas is restricted. BAND NEWS Band has now begun for the year and welcome to all our new members. There are still instruments available so it is not too late to join. Please see Mrs Thurston if you are interested. P & C NEWS
The P&C held their AGM last Monday with the following people
elected: Belinda Edwards (President), Sam Brown (Vice President),
Harriet Mangos (Secretary), Wendy Bunt (Assistant Secretary) and
Robyn Bartholomeusz (Treasurer). The P&C would like to the thank
Chris Jacob, Christine Sedgeman and Shannon Merry for their
assistance on the P&C executive last year.
It was great to see a number of new parents at the P&C meeting and
a number of fundraising events were planned for 2013. Our goal is to
2
continue to raise funds for a covered walkway between the drop off
zone and the COLA. This term we will be holding a disco and sausage
sizzle as well as an Easter raffle.
The P&C agreed that fundraising efforts should go toward resources
that will assist all students and the school as a whole and as such a
vote was made to no longer provide the $50 donation to children who
participate in state sporting competitions. The P&C provides funds to
cover the cost of sporting and academic awards at the school
Presentation Day and will continue to do so.
CANTEEN NEWS Fruit of the Week: Apples
This is just a reminder that the finger buns and muffins are $1.10.
With the new extension we can write out our lunch orders on the
cupboard that has been relocated in from of the windows of the
Canteen. Bags, Pens and a copy of the menu will be available.
