Application
1.Paper Chemicals
Cationic reagent is an important additive in paper industry, widely used in starch, cellulose,
chitosan and other chemical modification. The cationic starch modified by cationic reagent can be
used as paper surface sizing, retention and drainage aids, enhancers etc., is a kind of largely
consumed papermaking additive.
2.Textile Industry
(3 - chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) trimethyl ammonium chloride modified cotton fibers, improves its
adhesion to the dye; the cationic starch can be used as warp sizing agent after reaction of starch.

I. Production StatusTiancheng uses DCS automated control system and continuous automated production equipment. The productioncapacity of PTAC is 30,000 tons/year with good quality, high stability.We established a complete quality control system. II. Properties of ProductsLiquid Cationic Reagent is a kind of multi-application fine chemical products. The main chemical composition is3-Chloro-2- hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride. Molecular Formula is C6H15Cl2NO. Molecular weightis 188.10. Structural formula is as following:

2). Product FeaturesCompared with most domestic products, our PTAC 1881 is more stable in quality, higher in purity, and higherin degree of reaction. Ⅰ . Product Introduction:(3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl) ammonium chloride is a kind of cationic reagent, belongs to quaternary
ammonium salt, which is an important organic synthesis intermediates too. Molecular formula is C6H15NOCL2
and weight is 188.1. Structural formula is the following:
Under the normal temperature, this product is 65% aqueous solution and immediately transforms into epoxy
structure in alkaline conditions. So it is widely used for cationic modification of starch, guar gum, cellulose and
other material.

surface sizing agent, retention and filtration aid, enhancer and so on.

(2) Textile Industry
The cotton fiber, which is modified by PTAC, can enhance the dye’s bonding. And cationic starch can be
used as warp sizing agent.
(3) Water Treatment Industry
The electronegative suspended solids of water react with PTAC to get cationic polymer. As flocculant, it can
be widely used in the purification of water
(4) Daily Chemical Industry
The cationic guar gum and other chemicals, which are formed by PTAC modification, are all important daily
chemicals.

1. Main ScopeThis standard specifies the liquid cationic reagent requirements, experimental methods, examining rules,
package, symbol, carriage and storage.
This standard applies to liquid cationic reagent obtained from ECH, hydrochloric acid, TMA solution. The
products are widely used in the paper industry, textile industry, water treatment industry and daily chemical
industry and other industries.

4. Experimental methods4.1 Appearance
Fetch 200 ml sample to a colorless glass beaker, and visual measurement. Liquid cationic reagent is colorless
and clear.
4.2 Active matter content
4.2.1 Instruments
One Over Ten-thousand Analytical Balance:
Acid-base burette, 25ml;
Lodine flask, 250ml.
4.2.2 Reagents
Sodium hydroxide standard solution: c(NaOH=0.5 mol / L),refer GB/T601 Chemical Reagent, preparation
of standard titrationliquor to make up.
Hydrochloric acid standard solution: c(HCl)=0.1 mol / L, refer GB/T603 Chemical Reagent, Test
methods used in the preparation of formulations and preparations to make up.

preparation of formulations and preparations to make up.
4.2.3 Operation steps
1)Blank titration
Weigh 2.6-3.4g cationic reagent sample precisely (exact to 0.0002g). Put it into an arid iodine flask,
add 60 ml distilled water and three drops phenolphthalein indicator to it, and use 0.1 mol / L sodium
hydroxide standard solution to titrate to reddish color.
2)Active content titration
Weigh 1.0-1.1g cationic reagent sample precisely (exact to 0.0002g). Put it into an arid iodine flask,
use pipette to fetch 10 ml 0.5 mol / L sodium hydroxide standard solution into an iodine flask, add
10 ml distilled water and three drops phenolphthalein indicator to it, seal it off, Shake it evenly
enough, use 0.1 mol / L hydrochloric acid standard solution to titrate sample, continue dripping until
the red color vanishes.

4.3 Measurement of ECH content and 1,3-dichloropropanol content
4.3.1 Reagent
ECH, HPLC grade;
1, 3 - dichloro propyl alcohol, HPLC grade.
4.3.2 Instruments
GC: Rui Hong SP-6800A or other similar instruments.
Detector: FID split/splitless
Capillary column: SE-30 0.35 mm x 30 m x 0.1 µm
4.3.3 Operation
1)Confection of standard solution
Use 5 μL micro-injector to fetch 1 μL、2 μL、3 μL、4 μL ECH and injected into 50 ml colorimetric
cylinder separately, and use the same way to injected into the above 50 ml colorimetric cylinder
separately. Thin up to scale, fully shake, and reserve.
2)Confection of sample
Weigh cationic reagent about 40g, put it into distillation flask and vacuum distillation to near
dryness slowly, collect the liquid slip out, test.
3)Gas chromatography
Chromatographic column: SE-30 0.35 mm x 30 m x 0.1 µm

4.3.4 Calculation
1)Draw standard curve
Calculate the standard sample solution as ECH, 1, 3-dichloro-propanol the corresponding peak
area average value, use content as the abscissa, the corresponding peak area as the ordinate. Draw
the standard curve of ECH, 1,3-dichloropropanol separately.
Or application of the calculation method, use content as the abscissa, the corresponding peak area
as the ordinate, calculated the standard curvilinear equation of ECH, 1, 3-dichloropropanol
separately.

sample get ECH, 1,3-dichloro-propanol the corresponding peak area average value, brought into
equation (6)、(7)separately and calculated, from the sample get the content of
ECH,1,3-dichloro-propanol.
4.3.5 Standard gas chromatogram
4.4 Determine pH value
4.4.1 Definition
It also called hydrogen ion concentration index, which is a scale of hydrogen ion activity from solution.
And it usual sense measurement of the solution pH value.
4.4.2 Principle:
Use PHS-25 type acidometer, namely the use of pH combination electrode in solution of different
acidity measured direct current generate by bit, through pre-amplifier transport pH to A/D converter, in
order to achieve the pH value digital display purposes.
4.4.3 Instruments
1)Acidometer, PHS-25 type;
2)Beaker, 250 ml;
3)Wash bottle.
4.4.4 Operating steps:

Add 90 mL distilled water into 250 mL beaker, weigh 10 g sample to the beaker (exact to 0.0002 g), stir
with a glass rod, until the sample completely dissolved in distilled water. Refer PHS-25 type acidometer
operating instruction manual to operate and mark. Measure twice; take the average of two measurements
as measured result.
4.4.5 Calculation of measurement results:
Direct readings, is the pH value.
4.4.6 Measurement accuracy
The results of two parallel measurements, the relative error should be less than 1%.
5. Marks, Package, Carriage and Storage.5.1 Marks
Products pail pack should be attached with clear and firm label. Marked: product name, product standard mark,
net content, batch number (or date of manufacture), maker, address and so on. Storage and transportation signs
should be consistent with the relevant provisions of GB/T191
5.2 Package
In plastic bucket, 240±0.005 kg net weight per barrel, other options negotiated by both parties.
5.3 Carriage
Product during transport should pay attention to waterproof, freeze-proofing, avoid contact with
open flame, not mix with corrosion, flammable, explosive items; ban discards during loading and unloading.
5.4 Storage
Product should be stored in dry, ventilated, shady and cool storeroom. Keep away from heat and fire, pay
attention to keep warm in winter.
5.5 Shelf life
Accord with above conditions, shelf life of the product is 12 months. It can’t be used after shelf life unless it
is qualified after inspection.
