Catia v5 and unigraphics nx1

Do any of you have experience with both Catia V5 and Unigraphics NX ? I have a lot of experience with Catia V5 and am curious how NX stacks up against it for 5 axis part programming. When I look at the NX website it seems as though they have more tool path options and features that Catia doesn't. I don't know if I'm just seeing it as the grass is greener on the other side kind of thing, but it seems like Catia doesn't put as much effort into their advanced machining platform anymore. Were it my choice, I'd take NX. The planes engines ( Pratt & Whitney ) are designed in NX. As are rockets (SpaceX, Rocketdyne). And most automakers have moved over to NX. So, hopefully I'll be moving on soon to more NX adventures! ( GE uses NX for their engines also). Both NX and CATIA have equal capabilities when it comes to CAD only,

The planes engines (Pratt   &   Whitney ) are designed in NX. As are rockets (SpaceX, Rocketdyne). And most automakers have moved over to NX. So, hopefully I'll be moving on soon to more NX adventures!( GE uses NX for their engines also).

Both NX and CATIA have equal capabilities when it comes to CAD only, but NX has close to 30 modules ( Includes various CAE and CAM modules ) making it the most competitive software in the CAD software industry, in the other hand it has seamless integration with PLM software Teamcenter, which is very much required for collaboration with suppliers and product data management.

CATIA is better integrated to PLM Enovia, but it is not even close to Teamcenter when it comes to functionality.

NX and Teamcenter got better in last 10 years while

CATIA declined with release of CATIA V4, which needed migration instead of re-filing to make the part open with parameters in V5.

As of now Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler are migrating from CATIA to NX even though it involves huge costs.

Unigraphics NX wins hands down. It has more options and control then CATIA or ProE. Working with NX gives you more in depth control and better imaging then any other CAx tool present in the market.

Many company in manufacturing are taking up Siemens NX as against CATIA
