Dear parishioners, come join us at the

Missionaries of Charity Shelter, 724 N.W. 17 Street,

every 3rd Sunday of the month to cook for and feed the homeless men of Miami. Don’t miss this beautiful

opportunity to serve God by serving the poor.

The shelter opens for the

volunteers at 7:30 am but they don’t start serving food to the

homeless until 9:30am. There is a second food service

at 10:30 am and a third at 11:30am.

Those volunteers that get to the shelter in the morning help prepare and serve the food

during the first service.

You are welcomed to come at any time or day of the week.

The shelter is closed on Thursdays.

If you have any questions, please do not

hesitate to contact me, Jaime Murati, at:

Did you know that less than half of all people have a will or an estate plan? A will ensures that your intentions for taking care of loved ones and distributing property are legally fulfilled. Be one of those who have chosen to be a good steward, and take the time to prepare a will or estate plan. We appreciate any consideration for a gift to St. Thomas the Apostle. For more information, contact the rectory or call

the Office of Planned Giving at (305) 762-1110.

de St. Thomas the Apostle.

2016 Archbishop’s Charity and Development Drive (ABCD) Begins As we begin the 2016 year, let us reflect on the many blessings in our lives. When we truly believe that all we have is a gift from God, then we must be willing to give up some things so that we can share our blessings as God intended. Living a stewardship lifestyle means not only being responsible for our own life, but the lives of others as well. Jesus teaches us that we are called to serve one another. Sacrifice is not a word that many people like to hear. We think it means that we must give up something that we want. However, the literal meaning of sacrifice is “to make holy,” from the words of “sacer” meaning sacred and “facere” meaning to make. In other words, we make our lives holy by sharing our gifts in the service of God. Soon we will be asking you to make a contribution to this year’s ABCD. Please take this time to prayerfully consider what sacrificial gift you will be able to place at God’s service. If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all. Mark 9:35.

Marcos 9:35.
