Dear Parishioners, Happy Ides of March! It is hard to believe that we are nearing the halfway point of Lent. I hope it is going well for you. Lent has brought our parish and me many graces that I believe are and will continue to bear much fruit. I am beyond excited that if you look on the last page of the bulletin you will see that our Bank Loan is now six numbers instead of seven! It is below one million dollars! Praise God! We are on our way to paying this loan off! Recently we made a $206,000 principal-only payment and the balance became $995,000. This is from proceeds of our capital campaign. My hope and prayer is that through your continued faithful payments on your capital campaign pledges (if you still owe like me) we will be able to pay this loan down another $600,000 (this is the remaining balance due of capital campaign pledges). If you ever find yourself in a position to donate to the parish to help pay down the principal, please let me know. It would be much appreciated. The more we pay on the principal the less interest we pay and the faster we get this loan off our “backs.” I have a candle lit in the St. Joseph Chapel that will stay lit until we pay down this loan. Through his intercession I believe we can pay this off! You all amaze me with your generous sup-port of our parish and our mission. This week is the high holy day of St. Patrick’s Day! The East Side Irish Mass will be at our parish on Tuesday, March 17 at 10 am. Fr. Frank Walsh is presiding. Because of the Mass and all that goes into preparing for it there will not be an 8 am Mass on Tues-day and the school and parish office are closed. I hope you can join us. It is quite the Mass! This week our Disciple of the Week is Joanne Skapura. Joanne is a beautiful woman who gives her talents to serve the church in a humble and meaningful way. Over the last ten years she faithfully served as a Liturgy Coordinator at the 9 am Mass. She helps every Christmas and Easter to decorate the church with attention to the Nativity scene. She helps at Fish Fries, Festival, Community Meals, and anywhere we serve food. Her specialty is working with her lady friends on the desserts. She does so with a smile and sense of adventure! She is a blessing to us! Thanks Joanne! See you at the Fish Fry, Mass, & Stations this Friday! Make it a great week! See you in Church. Peace, Fr. John

REFLECTING UPON OUR BAPTISM Before the pouring of baptismal water, a rejection of Satan and belief in God are professed. Though as an infant we cannot speak the words, now we can daily reject Satan and profess our belief in God. Water is poured or the person is immersed (as done in the early Church) three times with the words being proclaimed: “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Welcomed into God’s holy people, the baptized belongs to God; belongs with the community of the Church; and belongs for the mission of manifesting the King-dom of God.

All parishioners are invited to a Holy Hour with a concentrated prayer intention for the Men’s Group. This group helps men of all ages grow deeper and stronger in their relationship with God and their identity as His beloved Sons. Consider joining us for time in front of the Blessed Sacrament to pray and give thanks for those in your life! The Holy Hour will be on Wednesday March 18th and will begin at 6:30 pm in the Church ending with benediction at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

LUKE BROWN’S REFLECTION This Sunday’s first reading is always a good reminder of God’s pres-ence in our lives. I often hear people who are struggling with any sort of suffering, but especially anxiety and depression, say that they do not feel God’s presence in their life and that they feel forgotten and abandoned. In the midst of suffering, it is very difficult to have a clear head and remember that God is always at work in our lives. Even in our suffering, He is present. God provided for the Israelites and gave them the grace they needed to get through each day. When the Israelites collected manna in the desert, they often com-plained. God would give them enough for the day and any that they collected as a surplus would go bad. This was to emphasize that they should trust God each day and trust that He will provide for them the following day as well. To desire the surplus is to doubt that God will show up in the future. When we are suffering, it is like the desert. It becomes easy to doubt that God is present and we feel alone. However, we must trust that God has given us the grace to get through this day. Tomorrow, He will provide the grace we need yet again. He will never abandon us and He will always pro-vide. We cannot judge how present God is in our lives by how good we feel. If this resonates with you and your spiritual life, consider reading “Searching for and Maintaining Peace” by Father Jacques Phillipe. It is an excellent resource for maintaining peace in times of suffering.

ing your church and community, we invite you to become a member of The Knights of Columbus Euclid Council 3164. HEALTH ADVISEMENT As we all are aware we are in the midst of Flu Season and it is good time to remind people of the following in regard to stay-ing healthy and attending Mass: Ministers of Holy Communion are encouraged to wash

their hands before Mass begins, and will be using an alcohol based anti-bacterial solution before and after distributing Holy Communion.

Liturgical ministers are told they should not serve if they are sick. This includes both clergy and lay ministers.

Parishioners who are sick should stay home. Missing Mass is not a sin if you are sick.

Parishioners are encouraged to wash their hands frequently with soap and water and alcohol-based hand sanitizer, espe-cially after shaking hands with others.

For the Sign of Peace, it is strongly recommended to use a verbal greeting, PEACE, and/or to wave or nod a “Peace.” Do not be offended if someone does not offer you a hand-shake.

Parishioners who are sick and/or have sick family members should protect others by abstaining from receiving Com-munion on the tongue, and by abstaining from receiving the Precious Blood.

Let’s together work to continue to celebrate Mass well and to keep each other healthy. Also, please pray for all those who are sick and for their healing and recovery.
