Stewardship Reflection
April 22nd - Fourth Sunday of Easter
In today’s Gospel reading we hear Jesus referring to himself
as “the good shepherd.” His sheep know him, trust him,
listen to him and follow him; having faith that no harm will
come to them as long as they stay close to him. We reaf-
firmed our faith in Christ when we renewed our baptismal
promises at Easter. As stewards of our relationship with Jesus
Christ, are we, like the sheep, willing to listen to Jesus, trust
him, follow him no matter the cost to our comfort?

Series of Articles on ‘The New St. Francis Xavier Church Building’ - Designed to be a Sign of Who We Are
By Father Larry V. Pederson
The Nave or Place for Worship - Shapes Our Lives (Series
Continued) The west window in the sanctuary depicts the voyages of St. Francis Xavier over the oceans by ship. My contribution to the voyage images was to include the coast of China and the sunset. I was inspired to contribute this to the design because of the desire of St. Francis Xavier to evangelize China in 1552, but died off the coast of China before accomplishing his dream to evangelize China. Also my inspiration came from a brother Jesuit of St. Francis Xavier, namely, Pope Francis, who deliv-ered a homily to his brother Jesuits. In the homily he called the death of St. Francis Xavier off the coast of China a classical
sunset and wished that our death would be like his because in the end what really mattered to St. Francis was not his dream or vision or desire, but for the will of Jesus Christ and for the greater glory of God to completely fill his life - the true goal of Jesuit spirituality. Again we have the theme of fulfillment which comes with dwelling in the heavenly city of Jerusalem with Mary, Mother of God, the saints, angels and host of heav-enly realm. The be continued...
From the Pastoral Team’s desk...
Living in the Word of God Archbishop Smith issued a Pastoral Letter on Thursday, September 14th, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Entitled Living in the Word of God, the letter invites us all to renew our focus on Scripture as we answer the call of the Holy Father Pope Francis to listen to the Word of God and then to put it to practice. There are copies available at the parish office. Living in the Word - We are stewards, not owners, of the gifts we have received from God. The steward is one who recognizes dependence upon God and who, in gratitude for gifts received, offers them humbly and generously to God by placing them at the service of others. Among the many details are the following: it was made in Le

Mr. Rene Lemarchard of Edmonton in memory of Father
Rene Remas. Installation costs are approximately

on the property to make way for the building. They were
moved to the east end of the property. We will add 600+
