Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception WISDOM FROM THE SAINTS: Holy Mass and Communion

The Infinite Mass causes the whole

heavenly court to rejoice. It alleviates the pain of the souls

in purgatory. It draws down all types of blessings upon

earth, and gives more glory to God than all the sufferings

of all the martyrs together, more glory than the penances

of all the saints, than all the tears shed by them since the

beginning of the world and all that they may do till the end

of time. - St. John Vianney

Hear Mass daily; it will prosper the whole day. All your

duties will be performed the better for it, and your soul will

be stronger to bear its daily cross. The Mass is the most

holy act of religion; you can do nothing that can give

greater glory to God or be more profitable for your soul

than to hear Mass both frequently and devoutly. It is the

favorite devotion of the saints. -- St. Peter Julian Eymard

Sunday is the property of our good God; it is His own day,

the Lord's day. He made all the days of the week: He

might have kept them all; He has given you six, and has

reserved only the seventh for Himself. What right have

you to meddle with what does not belong to you? You

know very well that stolen goods never bring any profit.

Nor will the day that you steal from Our Lord profit you

either. I know two very certain ways of becoming poor:

they are working on Sunday and taking other people's

property. - St. Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney, the Cure of

Ars

If you want to assist at Mass with devotion and with fruit,

think of the sorrowful Mother at the feet of Calvary. - St.

Padre Pio

O my children, how beautiful will that soul be in eternity,

who makes frequent and good Communions! -- St. Jean

Marie Baptiste Vianney, the Cure of Ars Holy Communion is the shortest and safest way to

Heaven. -- Pope St. Pius X

Our Lord does not come down from Heaven every day to

lie in a golden ciborium. He comes to find another heaven

which is infinitely dearer to him – the heaven of our

souls, created in His Image, the living temples of the

Adorable Trinity. - Saint Therese of Lisieux

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

‘FAMILY CHOSEN FOR THIS YEAR’S HOUSE OF FAITH” Tevera Reynaud and her sons Nathaniel, age 14, and McKinglynn, age 5, have been selected to be the recipients of this year’s House of Faith. Tevera lost her husband and the boys lost their father last year. Tevera works as a CNA at Chris-tus St. Patrick Hospital. They are thrilled to have this opportu-nity to own a home and build a life together. To quote Tevera: “These two boys are my world now. And me, I’m just a mom that’s trying to keep my family together. All we got is us and God.” Can’t wait to show her how God is working for her family through the Cathedral and all the member churches. Keep pray-ing. Our Drive starts in August. God Bless!

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

The death of a loved one

has a powerful impact on a person’s life.

But the surrounding world often expects survivors

to move quickly beyond their loss.

The grieving process takes time and deserves

attention...out of your pain

can come profound, transforming healing.

If you or someone you know has experienced the death of a loved one (a spouse, friend, sibling, parent, child) you may want to consider participating in this five weeks Bereavement Program. You do not have to be a Catholic, there is no time limit as to when the person(s) died and there is no cost...all are welcome. There is no easy way around the pain of losing a loved one. Grief has no rules and no timetables. Understanding the grieving process can soothe the doubts that linger. Learn about the “surprises” of grief and the emotions that affect you physically, mentally and spiritually. In this five week series you will learn about normal grief and hopefully gain a renewed sense of hope. Come and learn and ask questions to gather hints about picking up the pieces after loss.

When: Mondays, (July 27th, August 3rd, 10th and 17th).

Where: Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Ave Maria Hall.

Time: 5:00 P.M.

Please call the church office and let the receptionist know if you are planning to attend so there will be enough handouts for everyone. Questions...Contact Sister Jeannette , 436-7251.
