Categorising Facial Expressions
Millum and Ferguson
Millum
Millum categorized male facial expressions as:• Carefree (smiling and grinning)• Practical (mouth closed, slight frown)• Seductive (slight smile)• Comic (exaggerated expression)• Catalogue (neutral look)
Ferguson
Ferguson categorized female facial expressions as:• Chocolate box (smiling without teeth)• Invitational (mouth shut/emphasis on eyes)• Super smiler (full smile with teeth)• Romantic (male and female)
My Magazine
For my magazine I will be photographing only one female therefore I will most likely use ‘invitational’ or ‘super smiler’. I will use these as they both include direct mode of address and also draw in my target audience, as they seem friendly and appealing.
