SAINT ANNE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH BRISTOL, VIRGINIA September 17, 2017 Remember St. Anne’s in your Will and Trusts
“Whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” says St. Paul.
As we gather today at God’s invitation, let us be mindful
that we belong to the Lord, and pray for ways that we can
be a reconciling presence in the world.

Scripture for next Sunday (25th Sunday/Ordinary Time)
Isaiah 55:6-9
The ways and thoughts of God are above our own.
Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a
Saint Paul rejoices that to live is Christ
and to die is to gain.
Matthew 20:1-16a
“The last will be first, and the first will be last.”
While the first reading and Gospel next Sunday focus on
God’s great generosity and mercy toward us sinners, Saint
Paul urges us to conduct ourselves “in a way worthy of the
Gospel of Christ.” As we listen to these sacred scriptures
proclaimed next weekend, let us ponder how we may reflect
God’s lavish love in our own lives.

Catechetical Sunday—2017 “Living As Missionary Disciples”
Today, the Church celebrates Catechetical Sunday.
Those who the Community has designated to serve as
catechists were called forth at the 11:30 Mass to be
commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday
is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that
each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on
the faith and being a witness to the Gospel.
Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to
rededicate themselves to this mission as a community
of faith. Thank you to all who serve St. Anne Parish
as Catechists. You make it possible for all of us to
continue to grow in knowledge of our faith.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: This Tuesday,

Sponsors Needed! What Does It Mean to Be an
RCIA Sponsor? The faith journey that leads to the
celebration of the sacraments of Baptism,
Confirmation, and Eucharist is initiated by God, who
calls each of us by name. By the power of the Holy
Spirit, hearts are stirred and lives are changed.
Responding to that divine initiative is personal, but it
is also aided by the Christian community that helps an
individual discern God’s call. A Sponsor is:
A link to the community
A companion along the way
A mentor but not a catechist
A person of prayer
Is God calling you to the ministry of being a sponsor?
Please prayerfully consider being a sponsor for
someone in RCIA. Please contact Sydney at 276-669-
8200 ext. 32 or email sydneyfarnum@stannes-
bristol.org if you are willing to serve as a sponsor.
Nursery Workers Needed!!!
If you like working with children, consider joining our
nursery crew. Hours are flexible; some Saturdays, all
Sundays, some Wednesdays, and all Holy Days of
Obligation. If interested, please contact Van4ssa Purdy
at 276-591-5378 *814 or [email protected].
