    GENERAL

    DESIGN CONCEPT

    APPLICABLE STANDARDS

    HMS switchgears comply with the following international standards.

    - IEC 60298 and 60694

    -Classification of ships.

    Hyundai medium voltage metal-clad switchgear HMS-112 with a

    drawable circuit breaker truck are of one-tier, factory-assembled

    and suitable for rated voltage of 7.2kV to 12kV.

    The switchgears have been type tested in accordance with related

    IEC regulation.

    HMS switchgears have been designed and manufactured on the

    basis of our quality assurance program ensuring ;

    - Maximum safety and reliability

    - Minimum maintenance, all parts easily accessible

    - Ease of installation

    - Simplified but flexible design

     PROTECTION DEGREE

    SERVICE CONDITION

    Same as IP42, but dust protection is added.(Ingress ofdust is not totally prevented, but dust shall not penetrate

    in a quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation)

    Recommended for coal mine plants.

    Hyundai’s switchgears are intended for use under the normal indoor service

    condition and special service condition.

    Normal indoor service condition.

    - Ambient temperature : 35℃ maximum 24 hour mean.

      40 ℃ maximum value.

    - Altitude : not to exceed 1000M sea level.

    - Relative humidity : 95% maximum 24 hours average.

      90% maximum one month average.

    The protection degrees for standard switchgear are as follows.The other degrees such as IP42, IP52 are also available on request.

    - Protection degree for the switchgear enclosure : IP4X

    - Protection degree for the internal partition : IP2X

    Protection against access to hazardous parts with finger

    or solid foreign objects of diameter greater than 12mm.No specification against water.

    DESCRIPTION OF PROTECTION DEGREE

    Protection against access to hazardous parts with wires

    of diameter or strips of thickness greater than 1.0mm.

    No specification against water.

    Recommended for power plants, offshore plants,

    substation and industrial plants.

    Same as IP4X, but protection against drops water when

    case in tilted up to 15˚ is added.

    ENCLOSURE

    FINISH

    The enclosure of the switchgear is cleaned, rust proofed and painted in

    accordance with Hyundai’s standard electrostatic powder coating

    procedure.

    The average thickness of painted finish is 60 microns and above.Standard finish colours are Munsell no. 7.5BG 7/2 and RAL6018.

    The rigid enclosures of the switchgear consist of steel sheets with folded

    edges bolted together.

    The use of CNC machine and FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System)

    enables high accuracy of dimension, thus facilitating best quality and

    installation saving at site.

    Special service condition

    Following conditions are considered as special service condition.

    - Different value other than specified in normal indoor service conditions.

    - Outdoor service

    - Heavy vibration or shocks

    - Hazardous area

    - Seismic requirements

    NAME PLATE

    ROUTINE TEST

    The routine tests are conducted with each unit at Hyundai’s factory to

    ensure that the switchgears are in accordance with the requirements.

    - Power-frequency voltage test on main circuit

    - Power-frequency voltage test on auxiliary and control circuit

    - Measurement for resistance for the main circuit

    - Test of auxiliary electrical devices

    - Verification of correct wiring

    CIRCUIT-BREAKER COMPARTMENT

    CIRCUIT−BREAKER REMOVED CIRCUIT−BREAKER IN THE ’SERVICE’ POSITION  

    HMS-112 switchgear contains a withdrawable breaker truck incorporating

    vacuum circuit breaker HVF.

    The following interlocks are provided to ensure proper operation and personnel

    safety.

    - The withdrawal or engagement of a circuit breaker is impossible unless it is

      in the “open” position.

    - The operation of a circuit breaker is impossible unless it is in the ‘service’ or

      ‘test/disconnected’ position.- The operation of the earthing switch is impossible unless the associated

      breaker truck is in the ‘test/disconnected’ position or removed from the panel.

      (Key interlock is provided to ensure a safety operation.)

    LOW VOLTAGE LV COMPARTMENT

    BUSBAR COMPARTMENT

    PT & EARTHING SWITCH COMPARTMENT

    3 single phase, truck mounted potential transformer with current limiting fuses

    on both the primary and sccondary side star connected, both neutral points areearthed.

    The track-resistant, flame-retardant epoxy polyester insulted contact bushing

    completely prevents the propagation of faults from C.B compartment to busbar

    compartment or vice versa.

    The metal shutters, lockable in the closed position, automatically shield off the

    fixed disconnection contacts when the breaker truck is drawn-out.

     

    24 pins plug and socket for auxiliary circuit remain connected in the

    ‘test/disconnected’ position so that the circuit breaker can be tested.

    LV compartment with a front hinged door accommodates relays, measuring

    instruments, switches, terminal block and indicating lamps etc.

    Standard control wiring in LV compartment is 2.0mm, 600V graded PVC

    insulated wire.

    Flame-retardant PVC duct makes the wiring easy and simple.

    The interconnections between panels can be made through the opening on the

    side plate. The opening is shrouded with grommet to protect the wiring work

    from damage.

    Each wiring is identified by the wire number marked onto white vinyl tube at the

    end of each wire. Ring type lug is provided for wiring.

    The earthing bar and motor mechanism for earthing switch is provided in

    bottom of the compartment for discharging the residual energy when the

    breaker truck is in the ‘test/disconnected’ position.

    Busbars braced with partition bushing (polyester) run at the bottom of the

    panel.

    No moving parts enter in the busbar compartment thus making the busbar

    invulnerable. The busbar system can withstand high dynamic and dielectric

    strength and can reduce heat dissipation.

    In 15kV switchgear, high mechanical and electrical featured insulating busbar

    system is provided. The removable insulating cover (boot) is placed over thejoints and secured in place.

    In 7.2 and 12kV, a bared busbar system is standard.

    CABLE-CONNECTION COMPARTMENT

    Cable-connection compartment is accessible by opening a hinged rear door.

    (Bolted removable cover plate also available, on request)

    A sufficient space is provided for termination of power cables, as many as six

    cables per phase can be connected.

    Epoxy resin insulated 3 voltage transformers(V.T) mounted on withdrawable

    truck, with high rupturing capacity fuses can be located on the upper/rear part

    of the compartment.

    Extension guide rail is provided for the maintenance of V.T with the truck half-

    drawn out but still in the panel.

    3 block type current transformers (C.T) can be mounted per panel, however,

    bushing type CTs can be added on the line and load side of contact bushing.

    Zero phase current transformer and surge arrester can also be located in the

    compartment.

    The earthing switch operated from the front of panel has a making capacity so

    that can be switched onto live parts. The position indicator is provided in the

    front of anel.
