Endemic development

Over the years, ACMA has patentedmore than 200 solutions, all of which areavailable to its customers. It works closely with marketingdepartments and has developed its Innovative PackagingTechnology (IPT) department, representing a new starting pointfor creative development. IPT is constantly conceivinginnovative packaging formats that serve to distinguishcustomers’ products from those available.

The Zip Top and the Fin Seal

The Zip Top pocket carton is a revolutionary package, resultingfrom the creativity and research of the ACMA IPT Department.This package is ingenious, yet simple, and the unique Zip Topopening system provides safety, convenience and hygiene. Itdispenses product in an efficient manner and is ideal for

packaging such productsas hard candy andchewing gum, regardlessof product shape.

The most remarkableinnovation is that theentire box, including thesliding section, ismanufactured from just one piece of cardboard. The pack ismanufactured with the aperture on either the narrow or wideside, and the Zip Top carton may be manufactured in bothtamper-evident and child-proof versions. The Zip Top ismanufactured on the ACMA FT301 machine, which operates at300 packs per minute (PPM). The carton-filler is extremelyversatile and can handle five types of differently formedpackages. It can fill packages using either the counting unit orscale-feeding system.

The FT301 is often used in conjunction with an automaticoverwrapping machine. The C301 it is the first machine of itskind to also be suitable for realising Fin Seal-style packages.ACMA has developed its machines to optimise flexibility.

It has added Fin Seal technology units to hermetically weldthe package to ensure a longer product life. The

Fin Seal technology serves to realise aperfectly airtight package, initially

sealing the overwrappedlongitudinal part and bendingthe package body extremities.This effective overwrappingprocess optimises films usage,

enhancing the aesthetics of thepackage and protecting against the

rigours of transportation and storage.
