3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes is a range of self-adhesive

films, available in a wide combination of patterns from natural to hi-tech,

which faithfully reproduce wood, metal, marble, leather, stone,

stucco and many others. They offer unlimited creative flexibility

and architectural freedom at reduced cost, compared to traditional mate-

rials used in construction, refurbishment, maintenance and repair.

Its possible applications are very diverse and vary, amongst others,

from building, hotel and office to public transport and marine, even

displays and equipment.

3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes opens up new means of commu-

nication and expression within interior and exterior design, permitting

new interpretation of space and visual experience. It combines new

material dimensions with a light in weight, thin hi-tech multi-layer

construction of unsurpassed aesthetic quality.

3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes comprises 22 different product

families, giving a total of close to 600 available patterns.

Each family comprises a wide range of colours, shades, surface

textures and finishes, which are capable of fulfilling even the most

complex decoration and covering requirements, allowing perfect in-

tegration into both new design and maintenance projects.

Its reduced thickness enables installations that are lighter in weight

than traditional panelling, whereas its self-adhesive feature allows

conversion and application in situ to the existing substrate, leading

to reduced labour cost compared to when working with authentic

materials used in renovation. It extends the life of expensive fixtures

and fittings. Obviously, also the downtime decreases significantly,

allowing business to continue.

As a result of 3M’s decades of experience in the production of self-

adhesive films, 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes not only has excellent

resistance to water, dirt, impacts, abrasion and mould. It is also

flame-retardant and IMO certified for the marine sector.

3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes, covered by a 12 year warranty

for indoor applications and up to 5 years for outdoors, is amongst

the technologically most advanced and prestigious products offered

by 3M.

3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes was originally designed

many years ago for application to the outside panels of auto-

mobiles. It was therefore constructed to withstand the effects

of weather, wear and tear. With these strengths, it has become

an indispensable tool for many architects and designers, when

creating special features and effects. It offers a real cost-ef-

fective and creative solution to many decoration, refurbish-

ment and resurfacing problems. It has successfully been used

in many market segments, including retail, franchising, bank

and insurance, marine, rail, public transport, hotel, leisure, ho-

tel, shopping malls, hospitality, office, vending machines and

many others. Applications vary amongst others from the reno-

vation of reception desks, doors, cruise ship and ferry cabins,

toilets and washrooms to tables, folding partitions, lift interi-

ors, shops, retail fixtures and fittings.

Thin, light and seamless, 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes

is used by many designers as creative and decorative inte-

rior material. Three special characteristics, colourful patterns,

design quality and texture of the material, combine to create

special architectural features. From single coloured patterns

to the textures of natural simplicity and more, the film brings

around 600 coloured designs to life and allows the ability to

create a room with a particular image. The pride of a uniform,

yet exquisite finish.

In the following pages, you will see the complete overview of

all families and their respective patterns. Whilst every effort

has been made to give an accurate representation for each

product, due to some limitations of the photographic process,

we recommend you to request a sample to support selection.

We have pursued the world’s latest design trend with the intro-

duction of “black and white” concept for all families. We have

also added trendy designs, such as Metallic Leather, Metallic

Wood and Rusty patterns. The Fine Wood Series has been re-

fined and enhanced.

3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes incorporates the unique 3M Comply

Technology System. This system of small air release channels within the

adhesive layer allows air, trapped between the film and the surface, to

escape. It makes the product quick and easy to apply.

3M™ Whiteboard Film, a range of 5 high quality films, is used in a wide variety of applications in public and private environments. Its construction gives this product the unique feature that texts and drawings, written with waterbased whiteboard markers, can be easily removed. One reference can be used as projection screen (SC-201). By simple application on walls and partitions, one can create a whiteboard surface in virtually any size. Only the ceiling is the limit. Target applications vary from office rooms, kindergarten and schools to retail and many others.

It exists of 5 references, 3 of them in white: WH-101 (glossy), WH-301 (satin finish) and SC-201 (matt). Two colored versions for perfect harmonization with colored office wall environments complete the range: WH-302, ivory and the beige gray WH-303.

3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes for Exterior

3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes for Exterior is a special 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes series, developed exclusively for refurbishing outside aluminium wall panels, frames and store facades.

Aluminium exteriors are often left alone when they deteriorate because spray coating alone cannot create a real metallic appearance. 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes for Exterior provides a brand new appearance and enhanced durability to exteriors by directly applying a highly weather-resistant metallic film. Building must be inspected and the substrate is tested by a 3M person prior to any application recommendation.

Product Specifications and Characteristics

Product construction- PVC, cadmium-free laminate film with an elongation of > 100 %, - Thickness (film + adhesive): 210 micron- Permanent acrylic adhesive with Comply™ Performance- PE coated Kraft paper liner

Application temperatureRange of 16°C to 28°C. Wet application is not recommend, nor needed, because of the Comply™ feature.

Dimensional stabilityA 10 cm x 10 cm “X” gash was made in a 15 cm x 15 cm film sample, which was applied to an aluminium plate. The sample was then exposed to a temperature of 65°C for 48 hours. The maximum opening of the gash was measured. Test result: 0.3 mm maximum.

Abrasion resistanceProduct applied to an aluminium plate and exposed to 7000 cycles using a Taber Abrader CS-17 with a 1 kg load weight. Test result: no pattern change.

Heat resistanceProduct applied to an aluminium plate and aged for 28 days at 65°C. Test result: minimal change to adhesion and film appearance.

Humidity resistanceProduct applied to an aluminium plate and aged for 28 days at 40°C, 90% RH. Test result: minimal change to ad-hesion and film appearance.

Low temperature impact resistanceProduct applied to an aluminium plate. Equipment used: Gardner Impact Tester. Drop height: 12.7 cm (5 “). Weight: 0.9 kg (2 lb).Temperature: 4°C. Test result: no impact on the surface of the film.

Stain Resistance3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes product applied to an aluminium panel and placed in direct contact with the substances listed at 200C, 65% RH. No effect. The substances were Milk, Coffee, Wine, Lemon juice, Tea, Vinegar, Soybean oil, Salt water (1%), Ammonium water, Soap water (1%), Synthetic detergent, Hydrochloric acid (10%), Sodium hydroxide (10%).

FlammabilityBecause of the wide variety of legislations, we’ve not listed the different certificates obtained. Please consult your 3M representative for getting more information on the specific certificates and test results, you are looking for.

PrimerGenerally there is no need to use primer for standard ap-plication. In case the surface energy of the substrate is low or if the application is done on critical surfaces with sharp radium, DP 900N and WP 3000 primers can be used. High surface energy substrates such as metal don’t require usage of primers.

Cleaning and maintenanceUse a soft textile with detergent and water. In case of heavy dirt accumulation use detergent and water at 70° to 80°C.

Removal3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes films are removable with a heat gun.

Shelf life and storage conditionsThe fabricator may store film for a period of up to two years. Film and markings must be stored in a clean area, free from excessive moisture and direct sunlight, with ambient temperatures of 35°C or less.

Adhesion (N / 25 mm)Strips of film 25.4 mm x 180 mm were applied to various sub-strates and conditioned at 20°C, 65% RH for 24 hours. Each strip was then removed, using a tensile tester, by pulling the film back at 180° degree at a rate of 30à mm/minute.

* Material damage

Chemical ResistanceProduct applied to an aluminium panel, conditioned for 72 hours and then immersed in the chemical agents mentioned below. Test Result shown below.

Effective performance

Product references with an outdoor sun symbol can be used for fleet applications on vertical flat and simple curved surfaces. A 3 year warranty can be expected.

Horizontal applications of markings and stripings can be used for indoor decoration where no UV light is exposed. 3M does not recommend/warrant outdoor application of DI-NOC™ products as horizontal applications, subject to maximum sunlight.
