In the 21st century, design is a way to increase person’s living standard and also it
has a pivotal role in developing a knowledge industry as a national industry. This
fact is evident throughout the world that the best policy for ensuring interna-
tional competitiveness and increasing living quality is design. Thus, it requires an
extensive cultural study and understanding.
At this critical point of time, the fourth United Designs exhibition is a significant
event for designers from around the world to share their concerns and cultures
to benefit visual knowledge and language by exchanging contemporary designs.
I hope the United Design exhibition can benefit all of us to understand unique
designs from around the world that brings us close friendship through exchang-
ing spiritual and cultural issues. Therefore, the United Designs exhibition is an
international event for bridging the designs of world.

About the Exhibi t i on
INYOUNG ALBERT CHOI, PH.D.CHIEF DIRECTOR OF UNITED DESIGNSVICE PRESIDENT OF KECDPROFESSOR OF HANYANG UNIVERSITY
Design is closely related to the society, culture and people. We experience the power of design every day. It sends message to us about the idea. Simply, design influences us. Thus, design must include psychology, anthropology, sociology, semiotics and other disciplines in developing effective aesthetic-messages. So you can say that design is not just how we create visuals but how to get there. The designs in the 21st century are about “Analytical Aesthetics.” It is based on analyzing the people and their culture and society. Hence design is not neither an art nor science, but it is art-science. As now, a new generation of design educators and practitioners are trying very hard to position design as the center of the academia and business world. Now, designers are conscious and more people rely heavily on designs. Without right design, there will be no success sending a message (or idea) to the people.
In this year, 195 designers and 8 design firms from 23 nations are participated in the United Designs exhibition. When I first organized the United Designs in 2004, my vision for the United Designs is to have exhibitions around the world in every two years to share our concerns about humanity. And I am honored to share this idea with Professor Dave Moon and his colleagues from California State University Northridge (CSUN), California USA. They were excellent on organizing the 4th United Designs exhibition.
22 23
We gathered here to share our concerns about the world. There are many issues we need to care about in this world as a responsible world citizen. But, we cannot concern all issues. Thus , the environmental awareness is what we concerned most at this time.
As a designer, we do best to express our concerns through designing posters. These posters are personal expres-sion about the environmental issues. We see a variety of different visual messages here. Some posters might disturb you and some might even move your heart. Definitely these outstanding posters influence your mind and heart about the environment. If just one of these posters influences your thoughts, I believe we did fine job on communicating the message and furthermore we have a successful exhibition.
Other category of this exhibition is a practical design. In this part of exhibition, we can understand how we com-municate client’s message now. Each era has own visual language and through these outstanding designs, we surely learn the present trend in the participant’s country and the world. We cannot judge its content and visual message, because its audience has own convention. But interestingly, our design language is conversed. Only difference is that the language we used in designs. Professionals and design students could learn from these practical design works to influence their visual communication skills.
As we all know, our planet is dying slowly. Our conscious time is so slow that we cannot notice its urgency. She needs our help and nurture.
As an individual, we can do a little to save her.But as a UNITED DESIGNER, we can do more.
So we speak out and act through what we do best, design!

Stop WhalingZHOU, JING
Green Peace EnvironmentAHN, CHANG-HO
The purpose of this poster is to visualize the relationship between Japan and commercial whaling. The argument that whale meat is demanded in Japan is a sham. Hence, in this poster the red circle of the Japanese flag became a circle of blood indicated by the little red drop hanging out at the bottom. A red whale tail branched out from the circle signifies the fact that many whales have been killed because of Japanese demands for whale meat. In order to stop commercial whaling and protect our environment, this poster reveals the fact of whaling by Japan and sends out a clear message - “Stop Whaling.” *This poster was designed for Greenpeace and selected by Good 50x70, Milan, Italy.

Atlas BurdenedRIZK, MAGDY
Finding EarthCHOI, KYUNG-SUG
An image of Altas holding up the earth. However, Atlas is wearing a hazardous materials suit and the earth is depicted as poisoned and deteriorating. Through a mythological vehicle, I wanted to depict the Earth’s deterioration will not only ruin just our physical world, but will also create a great deterioration in our intangible assets as well.

Green is LifeKIM, GEUM-JAI
Think GreenWI, DONG-MYUNG
Everyone wants to be green now. But do you really know how your personal choices are adding up? How well are people around the globe adopting behaviors that can make the world a more environmentally sustainable place? How have they changed over the past year? There is notthing to preserve our planet in this world. Green is our future. Green is our life.
Thinking green means being aware of our interconnectedness with the world and reflecting on the unintended damage we cause nature in the daily course of our lives. We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment, so this poster emphasize out environment and how we can all do our part to take care of the world and Think Green by using strong typography and graphics.

A Water-stressed CountryKIM, JUNG-KYU
About reduction becomes the desert little by little with industrialization and goes the earth protective flaw.
Natural environment of the Korean Peninsula seen from satellite that it shows a clear sky without clouds. But, is it a positive thing to have a clear sky without clouds? By expressing our land is increasingly to be barren and dry as water shortages problem. This work indicates a warning about the lack of water and a message about environmental protection.

Save the EarthPARK, IN-SEONG
Preserve Your World. Preserve Yourself. Act Now.PARK, MOO-GUN
This piece was developed for the purpose of protecting the environmental future of the Earth and has visualized the international envi-ronmental issue to present its severity to people all over the world. In specific, the smoke coming out from the manhole represents the viscous gas and also implies that infants can inhale these toxic gases directly from pacifiers. Air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and global warming have become a severe global issue that is threatening the future of mankind. In general, this piece was made to publicize the serious conditions of pollution in a new visual perspective, furthermore, imply that preservation is needed to keep a clean Earth and maintain a beautiful environment.
36 37
CoexistKIM, DONG-HO
YieldKELLEY, JAMES
I made this poster to deliver the message that we should protect the earth. The earth has great value when humans and nature co-exist. The earth is as beautiful as a blooming flower.
On February 2, 2007, the United Nations scientific panel studying climate change declared that the evidence of a warming trend is “un-equivocal,” and that human activity has “very likely” been a driving force in that change over the last 50 years. The combination of a 30” triangular (U.S.) “YIELD” traffic sign with a high resolution image of the earth promotes the idea of treating our planet as our highest priority. As responsible inhabitants, we should continually ask ourselves if our actions are helping or hurting our planet earth.
38 39
Melting GlobeEL-AMIRI, SULAIMA
Living TogetherYOO, MYUNG-HWAN
The concept of the poster is to show the results of manmade factors damaging the environment. The idea of a melting globe came from the melting icebergs in the poles. It conveys a feeling of urgency to take action to stop the global warming and draw the attention at all levels (individuals, industries, business, governments, NGO’s, International bodies…etc). The human hands holding the globe can have one or more of the following meanings: The origin of the crisis; Caring hands trying to do something (representing those who are fighting to preserve the Earth); and A symbol of the Human race suffering from the results of the global warming.

The need for justice to achieve peace. Protecting green means to protect earth, environment and life itself, so it important that we all unite our efforts to keep life in this earth.

Let’s Save the Sick Earth!SEO, JAE-HWA
Many people feel and know that we need to do more to protect the environment. Also people know a few actions to protect the environ-ment. By using less oil and disposable cups, we can protect the earth. But we always hesitate, ignore and neglect to do it. In my works, I describe a box as people’s closed and negative minds. To protect the environment, we should pull out the earth from a box. It means that we need to take an action to protect it. I hope will spur you to take action to protect the environment by appreciation of my work. Save the earth! The earth is our precious home.

The Earth Which the Next Generation Keep on LivingAHN, KYUNG-WHAN
Time Passes BySHOUMALI, NOOR
The earth which you and I live is living. We are when we need our concern about the earth which sons and grandsons must live.
Day by day, the earth is heading towards an end duo to some irresponsible actions. That affects the earth in a bad way, with each hour a whole forest is being burned down. With each minute a great amount of air is being intoxicated and with every second passes by, We are losing the earth and we are not doing any thing to stop that from happening. We are running out of time its all in your hands.

Global Warning From the Global WarmingHAMDAN, TASNEEM
Take Care of Our HomeMCKNIGHT, JENNIFER
Many International Agencies concluded that the global climate had undergone significant changes in the 20th century. These changes included an increase in global surface temperature by 0.45 to 0.60 degree centigrade. These increases have been greater than at any time in the past 1000 years. Changes in atmospheric temperature are supported by new analyses that the heat content of oceans has significantly increased since 1950s. Increases in land surface temperatures have been positively correlated with decreasing snow cover and land ice. Sea level changes have also occurred. These have been on the order of 10 to 20 cm above levels in early 20th century.
This poster explores the theme of nature using a “small world” approach. Our world, it seems, is “smaller” than we tend to think: each plant and animal species playing a part in a complex chain. Our world’s plants and animals are linked and interdependent: there is less and less room to waste or abuse our resources, therefore we should think about nurturing it with our choices, like a small backyard paradise.

Our Planet Needs Every Drop of WaterHIJJAWI, ISSAM
Are You Going to Let Me Go?YASEEN, SAFIYA
This poster encourages people to save every drop of water on the planet and keep it away from dehydration and vanishing. The idea in using pure drop of water shows the role that it plays in saving the universe. The background is dehydrated land shot from the African continent.
You will feel no longer you have a life because I am dying quickly and painfully. It is your fault, you human beings. You are using me badly, in a very horrifying way, in which you are killing the life in the universe, with everything in it. You are killing the MOTHER NATURE. You are vanishing the pure air. You are poisoning yourself. Everything in the universe is being intoxicated by your irresponsible and stupid behaviors. It will always be that way, unless you try to change it. And you should change it, because harming me will harm your loved ones, and it will hurt you eventually.

Global WarmingSABRI, BANA
For a Green Earth! Please Ride a Bike.KES, YUSUF
I placed the world in a cup, a hot cup as an expression of it being too hot... which is exactly what global warming is. The earth is heating up as an effect of global warming. You see the smoke evaporating from the cup taking the illusion of an evaporating earth. And even a cup that you would usually enjoy can burn you if you don’t allow it to cool down. The earth here is heating and we need to cool it down so, so we can enjoy it.
This work is designed for more earth green. Work’s goal is reflected greener earth. On the other hand, if we ride a bicycle, air pollution will not be in earth and exhaust gases will decrease, earth will be defend from it. Let’s go ride a bicycle!

Save the EarthPARK, BONG-YONG
Forest is very import element to live human and limited earth resource at the same time. However, the forest territory is getting smaller and smaller because of human’s imprudent resource development. Through the wood resource compare to candle, this poster says the warning message about the environmental problem.

Help Me!EUM, YOUNG-SIK
The Best Way We Can Do Before AdieuLIM, BYUNG-WOO
According to the UN report, two reports issued earlier this year by the same UN panel warned that the earth was already warming con-siderably, And that mankind was almost certainly to blame. They predicted severe consequences including droughts, floods, storms, heat waves and rising seas. ”
The life of earth is threatened. Artificial environment destroys ecosystem and accelerates the global warming. We should control artificial development of the environment and keep green environment. It is for us, in the end.
56 57
A Change of SceneYU, EUN-JUNG
Global ConnectionSANCHEZ, MAGALY
The environment is honest always and with the person changes together. With environment joins in consequently and we must live re-member this always and must act. The human being is one piece of nature.
I think any time there’s an issue to be solved or dealt with the first step is to figure out a way to communicate. Many problems or issues can be solved when we learn to better communicate and better connect with each other. If we can connect on a global level, and find a world-language maybe with design, we can begin solving some of our environmental issues. This poster was created in hopes of inspiring more ideas on ways to connect with the world. More ideas on ways we can transcend language barriers. If we can connect with the world we can be the catalyst to change the world.

International Environment and Life Protection CampaignLEE, BONG-NYEO
Save the WorldLIM, SEO-KYUNG
Today’s environmental problems have crossed the nations and became international issue. Acid rain, greenhouse effect, destruction of the ozone layer, desertification, and environmental hormone are threatening human lives. Environmental protection is life-protecting campaign that saves life forms on the Earth. We must respect life, and everyone recognizes what we have to do for our children’s environment and future generations of mankind. The world map represents that the world is inseparable when it comes to dealing with environmental issue; the design depicts the concept of taking emergency measures to save the earth in pain from greenhouse effect and devastation, and thus our lives.
60 61
Global WarmingCHA, JEONG-UN
A SOS, You Cannot Recycle the EarthLEE, HYANG-A
Ancient glaciers are slowly melting and shrinking like ice cubes in a glass of soda. Beaches that were once wide stretches of sand are becoming narrow strips as the ocean level rises. The earth’s climate is changing. That’s global warming. This will have an enormous effect on the earth’s inhabitants.
62 63
Convention to Combat DesertificationJEONG, JAE-HWAN
Polar BearHAN, YOUNG-JIN
Desertification will cause more disasters such as sandy dust, shortage of water and even a shortage of foodstuffs. Also, increasing de-sertification is able to accompany famine and poverty. As the soil becomes dry, farming can’t be sustained. That makes poverty deepen and produces environmental victims. This is why; desertification is one of the serious problems to human. Therefore, we must make a tremendous effort to solve this problem because it will not be easy.
Polar Bear remaining fewer than 25,000. It’s because global warming, and people’s indifference. Earth and Nature says that all these things are gone someday. If you don’t keep your ear open to what earth say, the polar bear is not only spicy becoming extinct.

Friends of the EarthCHO, CHU-WON
ImagineCHO, YONG-JAE
Production activities, transportation activities, and daily life, including various human activities induced by artificial soil pollution, water pollution, air pollution and noise vibration occurs. This is the destruction of the natural environment or living environment for animals and plants ultimately will not be able to live because of the destruction of the ecosystem as a harmful impact on the health and lives of people representing a message.

Let’s Go to Green Camp!HWANG, SOON-SUN
We’ve Lost It, EdenHONG, JI-WON
The story is about the dream-adventures of four children who have fallen asleep on their bus journey to “Green Camp.” In their dreams they have a succession of adventures involving green missions.
The Garden of Eden is gone. Man was driven away from the Garden of Eden, and now man is driven the Garden of Eden away. Where to? I recapture the harmony between humankind and nature.

What I Have ThoughtBAIK, KUM-NAM
Look. Listen. Feel.SALCHOW MACARTHUR, KELLY
This poster attempts to instigate connection through the senses. I believe that an inherent response occurs when one’s attention is allowed to focus and absorb the rich intricacies of the landscape. But this perception is a choice towards awareness, which often conflicts with the common priorities of consumerism, expansion and competition. Sight, hearing and touch are emphasized as natural catalysts of sensitivity (ideally in awareness and action) to the environment. As demonstrated in the forms, there are flexible options within our normal state of affairs. I have found parallels between creative problem-solving and variation in daily actions—inspiring alternatives in dimensional, environmental, personal and creative realms.
72 73
High VoltagePAPADEMA, ASPASIA
This poster is a comment on the thoughtless use of electric energy and its negative effect on the increase of planet temperature worldwide. The concept is based on electricity related imagery transformed into basic linear forms and supported by warm vivid colors to visually represent heat and danger. Simplicity and clarity of forms within a dynamic composition are the key elements in order to transmit a direct message to the viewer.
Yellow+Green+BlueTOMAK, ALI
Known as green color is formed by mixing in equal proportion with yellow and blue as far as subtractive color system. Otherwise, this equal and balance is corrupted or missing. There is a similar situation in nature. At the balance of nature is corrupted, when temperature that is sun (yellow) to be too much is drought or rain that is water (blue) to be too much is flood everywhere. It can be lived nature, it is formed by common points which equal sun and water. There is life in the area of this intersection or will not. I hope to balanced sharing of living area or space for all of us.

Smaller Carbon FootprintsLEE, JONG-SOOK
ConsumedCHOI, IN-YOUNG
The footprints are those of infant, representing how mankind must reduce his environmental impact. The color of the footprints is the color of carbon, the color of pollution. Let us hope that our efforts today are not too little, too late, and that nature will respond in kind with own footprints in brilliant colors.
We consumed without any hesitation about destroying the nature. The nature feeds our needs. We laughed and enjoyed her plentiful resources which eventually hurting herself. She is our mother. She sacrifices herself and now, we realized that she cannot nurture us anymore. Some of us still beg for her patience. We realized we done wrong and we need to nurture her. She is dying.

Surface and StructureKIM, GYO-WAN
A part of green is becoming mutated into a black hole which watches the viewer: An almost sacral effect of a certain problem. The ter-restrial is increased to a universal level. Thus, everyone understands the seriousness of the contemporary happening. There is a certain past and still one or two chances…
Terms, surface and structure, are not in contradiction in their meanings, but are used with conceptions supplementary to each other. ‘+’ symbol constitutes the intense contrast with the round shape in terms of the visual dimension. The round shape manifests the realistic life domain of the human being, ‘+’ refers to the expansion of the life domain.

Soo Fly to the Sky (Protection of Nature)CHOI, IN-SOO
Due to destruction of the natural environment and the indiscriminate capture of endangered animals, like our close friends should think carefully and need to pass the message.
The natural environment is beautiful but weak against human being. So I expressed the nature as a pitiable bird which is confronted by its death. This is for giving rise to sympathy for natural environment preservation. The destruction of pure natural environment is to exterminate an ecosystem and men. Let’s protect nature! Love nature^-^!

EKOPLAKAT (Eco-poster)RAJLICH JR, JAN
I combined woman’s hair with natural forest image. Woman’s tears represents heartbreaking feeling about our vanishing forest. Therefore, I hope it remind people that we can’t exist without nature, so must protect our nature for our own good.
Poster for a poster exhibition on the ecological and environmental issues organized in the HaDivadlo Brno Gallery. To destroy the ozone layer of the earth to know the seriousness of pollution, the visual processing of the gas mask was a symbol. The pollution and breathing in the red circle and a symbol of human beings, and two of the blue circle represents the eye of hope and a clean earth and black is the symbol of the earth pollution substances.
Jose Feliciano tells us about an hilarious hope and love with Listen to the rain. However, on the last day of the earth, we are bound to find out that the last rain is extremely against our expectation, like a red curse.

The Environmental Doomsday ClockJEONG, BYOUNG-GUK
Korea is DisappearingKIM, SUNG-JAE
The Doomsday Clock conveys how close humanity is to catastrophic destruction–the figurative midnight–and monitors the means human-kind could use to obliterate itself. First and foremost, these include nuclear weapons, but they also encompass climate-changing technolo-gies and new developments in the life sciences that could inflict irrevocable harm. As we in water-rich countries take our daily showers, water the lawn or laze about in the pool, it’s easy to forget that fresh water is a life-or-death issue in many parts of the world. Compare to the rash reality, the red back ground and countdowns of The Clock in this poster symbolize the acute situation in the world. We are the world. Let’s save ourselves. The Korean flag is called “Taeguekgi” in korea. The lower blue section expresses water.

Protect EnvironmentLEE, JIN-SOOK
Our environment is facing many challenges, which affect in risky way on our life. Challenges like pollution in all of its parts and Global warming are the main challenges which are affecting on our world. If these challenges continued, what will be the destiny of the coming generation? Misery? Floods? Dryness? We must solve this problem. The environment like a tree, if you give it the water, the fertilizer, and cutting extra parts of it, this tree will grow in a perfect way, but if you don’t do this, it will grow in a bad way, and the branch will be inside others. You should save it for your future, or you will lose it.
I want to express about Global Environment Conservation with our love, so I put heart Shape in middle. And recycle pictogram is informed that to hand over clean environment to our decedents by taking care and preserving natural environment is our responsibilities and duties.

Zero is information research work about the number zero based on multiple contexts. It is the first one by four series. I defined zero based on five main contexts and made symbol for information pattern. These pattern show abstract image of the number zero I found. Mapped circles show the connection between each meaning. For my perspective, it is a kind of circuit that has an endless repetition of meaning. In brief, zero is neutral unlimited number located in the center of various contexts. God made this world. The world is good. Human beings must keep and nurture this beautiful world. This is already in the Bible.

EMBEDDED ART commissioned international artists to respond to the current situation. EMBEDDED ART only showed works realised on location or against a background of research into future security. The diverse works focused on the conflicting fields of terrorism and terror, security and control. The influence of EMBEDDED ART also reached beyond the Akademie’s walls into Berlin’s public spaces. Post-ers designed by six internationally renown graphic artists (Jonathan Barnbrook, Neville Brody, Fons Hickmann, Gunter Rambow, Yuko Shimizu, Omar Vulpinari) spread the word all over the city.

It is a simply poster. A little bit strange tuning-fork in the middle, and an oblique, cloudy sky in back. (It was taken in London in 2008; I visited my sister who is living there. this big city, usually very cloudy...) I tried to say slim. I tried to work clear. But I like thinking with my brain and my eyes too! If the viewer understands how the tuning-fork works, than he will apprehend the true meaning. “Good design is 20% dignity, 20% beauty and 50% absurdity”, said Shigeo Fukuda, my favorite designer. (He was coeval with my father...) He was right.

No Involvement for Being at EaseTSANG, TAK PING
According to the UN Climate Change Report, leading climate scientists are now 90 percent sure that human activity is heating up the planet. A graph shows that the temperature rises in the last fifty years by a concerning degree. During the time, there were new forms of land use and the vast consumption of fossil fuels. Earth itself is one big living organism, and the global warming threatens lives of many species, especially in the Arctic region. To sustain life, what should we do? This world environmental awareness poster will ask a question if we as part of earthlings understand the cause and effect, and how to solve the problem.
By adopting the Neo-Confucian thought of no involvement in mind practice to depict visually the interdependency of human to the sky, the sea and the earth.

Similarly, express the position of its author about the promotion of the use of wind energy as an alternative and at the same time seeks to generate, through the composition and graphic elements used, the sensations of movement and force envelope produced by wind like element generator of wind power. If opposing the corrupt whaling industry in Japan is a crime then you should ask Japan to arrest you too!

Time to Open the Pandora’s BoxKIM, HYUN-JEE
This image is about ‘Pandora’s box’ which is based on the Greek mythology. There is no doubt to think Global Warming is caused by the greed and selfishness of human being. The Pandora’s Box in this poster symbolizes people’s sins as well as their hope. As the Global temperature is rising, we might have no more winter and Christmas in the near future. The gesture of opening the box is not about the negative ideas, but the positive dream for the people who are facing with fear. Various icons from the tree represented the result of pol-lution but the half of the tree shows the idea of happiness, dream, and remained our hope.
Environmental pollution is contamination of air, water and land from man-made waste. Pollution leads to depletion of the ozone layer, global warming and climate change. Air pollution is the release of chemicals and particles into the atmosphere. Water pollution includes surface runoff, leakage into groundwater, liquid spills, wastewater discharge and littering.

Everything in life is like a stream flowing in the mountains that leads natural life without greed.
Deforestation contributes to a fifth of total global greenhouse gas emissions through the release of carbon dioxide. With this amount of deforestation happening all around the world, people need to be aware that it will affects our future. We need to stop consuming and start thinking about sustainability. If we save the trees we will save the world.

Single drop of water = Life
This poster suggests 99 ways to improve our environment. All of our little efforts in daily life help improve the health of the Earth. The design represents the environmental cycle and how our efforts today contribute to the quality of the environment tomorrow in the same way that a plant produces seeds today that will grow into other plants in the future.

The ecosystem is being destroyed a lot. This is because a lot of people just throw away their trash. The Earth is having a hard time and the ecosystem is being destroyed. I think that we people should stand up and protect the environment.
This poster is express about multiple layer of tree to universe based on ‘天象列次分野之圖刻石’ the constellation. The title of this image “Across the Universe” is meaning of tree’s internal ecosystem and it’s circulation of material. This Organic system is similar with Universe low, so I imagine about the holistic Universe is in tree. That is the metaphor about environment value.

“Everyone’s fate is in your hands”. “think or sink” statement has sloganized this cause-result relationship. People are not yet aware of the danger. On their own, they understand the truth. If the humankind take the necessary steps today for to save the world and themselves, tomorrow will be too late.
The concept behind this poster is to highlight how the smallest members of our world reflect the overall health of our planet, it points back and forth between the world as a whole and the world as an individual, getting us to acknowledge that little things are big.

Recently the environmental issue is the one of important social issues. I want to emphasize to protect the earth. One of the way we can protect the earth is to save the nature. That is, the way we save the earth is that we save the life. So I want to express the tree as the nature and the heartbeat graph as the life.
UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) reports that there are many endangered species on Earth. Human existence would not be possible without the maintenance of biodiversity. It is getting difficult to preserve an environment safe and harmonious. The designer tries to show the hope that we (us or US, United States) can be full of environmental harmony with the visual languages she introduced into her work.

I have chosen this idea that passed on the damages which cause d by pollution and the most pollutant source (acid rain), so that I maid this poster which talks about the damages of acid rain in general, what a small acid rain drop can cause to a large spot of water, and what are the impacts on people life. This poster shows how dangerous is the situation, it started with one drop and in one place and we can’t deny that it only needs a chart time to reach all the places in the whole world, then during this time we have to solve other thing watch cause this problem, so we have to think globally and we should work locally, together to help our planet earth.

“Change a Light, Change the World” is a poster designed to preserve energy resources and contribute to a cleaner environment for this generation and the next. Changing light at home can save on energy bills while also helping to reduce the risks of global warming. The energy used in the average home can be responsible for more than twice the greenhouse gas emissions of the average car. That’s because most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases into our air. By using energy more efficiently, less energy needs to be generated by power plants.
The United States government’s Environmental Protection Agency clearly states that emissions from human sources are affecting the Earth’s climate and threatening the existence of many species of plants and animals. It is time for that same government to act and support legislation that limits those emissions.

The motivation of this work is a big tree being in harmony with the earth and the sky. A tree is the existence being a source to large number of living things, important living space and giving a vital element. So, I think It has the most representative value bring into relief importance of the environment protection. This is the reason express main theme of work as a big tree.

This poster represents a dying fish in the polluted water. The contrast between black and white colors is very strong. Black color meaning is the polluted water and white color is a dying fish, the dying fish cry in despair “please save me!” The motive of the fish brought from a hieroglyph character of china. The meaning is a fish. The hieroglyph character of china was modeled on a fish. It seemed like fossil of a fish. The dying fish is the symbol of the extinction of species from the polluted environment and we can see the trace of the extinction of species from records of nature. For example: a fossil animal and plant. It is an advance warning to human from nature. Scientists agree that water pollution will become a global issue.

Our global community is at serious risk from environmental damage. This piece intended to highlights this problem and to demonstrates the consequences of our failure to protect the environment. These failures to protect the environment have been symbolically expressed by overlaying images of garbage on the silhouettes of crying children.
In this poster we can see the smoke capturing our world like an cosmic alien`s attack. But it`s not a fantastic story. It`s not an cosmic alien`s attack, it’s attack of air pollution. Air pollution deteriorates our health and it is the reason for the climate change. There is only one explanation why we are having this destroying process is our behavior.

Our current predicament is due in large part to our perceived need for instant gratification, status, our falsely heightened, unsustainable expectations and our misguided, materialistic conception of what we call “convenience.” My 16 year old daughter, Zoë Yungmi Blank, and I wanted our poster to accomplish three goals: 1) to alert people about a specific problem (again, only one of many, but one that’s occurring worldwide); 2) get people to stop, think and reevaluate their own behavior — as interconnected to this problem; and 3) provide real actionable steps that can be taken, so that the (now converted) viewer is motivated to join this battle to save the environment and slow global warming. Let’s preserve the Earth! We can stop to become devastation little by little, and prevent environmental disruption.

I have created this poster with lots of thoughts on my mind as I have put in a barcode which represents the price of the products that are produced by the factories, Those factories are causing pollution that are costing us our life so the barcode represents the price of our life as well where the smoke is coming out of one bar in the barcode in Red which is the pollution that are produced by the factories and it had to be highlighted and noticed.
I try to give the viewer a tangible picture of the intangible future through a cinematic approach to the design. The photo collage is part cinema and part reality. It shows the worst possible scenario of the effects of climate change that could take place over the next hundred years or so, which is nothing on a geographical timeline. It delivers immediacy to a long-term problem through the use of a major icon from our current time period that is recognized worldwide.

Several years age, scientists estimated that over 30 million species of animals and plants exist on earth. However, pollution, deforestation, and exploitation of animals and plants now threaten many species. In the U.S. alone, over 700 species of plants, and almost 500 species of animals, are listed as threatened or endangered, and are in danger of dying out. The main cause of species endangerment is humanity’s destruction of both aquatic and terrestrial habitats. Many people do not worry greatly about species endangerment. But, it is important to remember that Humans live with other animals in harmony. To preserve the quality of out lives, and the lives of future generations, we must also protect plant and animal species now, and in the future. Visual expression for the clean air and clean environment.

The “Genesis” is the story for the Old Testament in the Bible that God created the heaven and the earth. On the creation of heaven and earth, light and darkness, day and night, land and water, plants, stars, the sun and the moon, fish and animals, and finally of man. Eden is the first nature appeared on the earth where Adam, Eve and nature lived together in peace and joy. When men disobey God and expel from Eden, men have to adapt to the deserted land. Here we start the mankind history. The protection of environment is the ultimate challenge of mankind—return to the god made perfect land, back to Eden. It is our duty and also right to protect the environment.
In 2009, environmental degradation, especially air pollution, due to careless natural resource development for selfishly narrow material gain, continues to imperil the long term survival of humanity and the countless organisms and ecosystems upon which it depends. The visual language of image, I appeal to all people to conserve the natural environment of our planet. The white ring in the middle represents human beings on earth, while orange colors and leaves represent nature. So I want to give expression to the deeply felt dream of all people to live in harmony with nature instead of against with it.

This poster was exhibited in Athens, at Syntagma Square, along with the work of 70 other Greek industrial, graphic and fashion designers, architects, street artists, etc. The Green Design Festival was organised with the collaboration of the City of Athens in an attempt to increase Athens’ citizens’ awareness about environmental issues. The design is an illustration based on the map of Athens. Type plays the role, using the names of roaδs as branches, and the green leaves represent the few parks in Athens.
In September 2006 the 1st International Art Biennal of Sinop, Sinopale, has taken place. Sinop is a vibrant and liberal city at the Black Sea coast of Turkey, surrounded by an unspoiled nature. Sinop is now in danger of being one of a few places in Turkey where the government wants to built the countrie’s first nuclear power station. To visualize the protest against this project the Sinopale organizers called international designers to design a poster which have been exhibited during the Biennal. I found the fish on the poster at a river in the Bavarian mountains and made a photo. In order to stop commercial whaling and protect our environment, this poster reveals the fact of whaling by Japan and sends out a clear message - “Stop Whaling.”*This poster was designed for Greenpeace and selected by Good 50x70, Milan, Italy. GLOBAL CHILD INJURY PREVENTION CAMPAIGN FOR UNWHO AND UNICEF GLOBAL CHILD INJURY PREVENTION CAMPAIGN FOR UNWHO AND UNICEF
The World Report on Child Injury Prevention was launched in 2009. UNWHO and UNICEF commissioned Fabrica’s Visual Communication department to conceive a global advocacy and awareness raising campaign. Five separate posters, that also became off and on-line ads and displays, have been designed to communicate the graveness of the child injury situation worldwide. The goal is to urge policy makers to implement prevention measures for the first five injury causes: road traffic injuries, drowning, burns, falls and poisoning. In order to use a universal visual language related to children, putty characters engaged in the five injury causes were created.

SHOW THE TRUTH. PICTURE WARNINGS SAVE LIVES CAMPAIGN FOR UNWHO SHOW THE TRUTH. PICTURE WARNINGS SAVE LIVES CAMPAIGN FOR UNWHO
World No Tobacco Day is celebrated around the world every year on May 31st. The theme for 2009 is “Show the Truth: Picture Warnings Save Lives”. For this occasion UNWHO commissioned a global campaign to urge worldwide national decision-makers to apply pictorial health warnings on all packages of tobacco products. Pictorial tobacco health warnings are better than textual warnings only because they more effectively inform smokers about the dangers of tobacco, especially in countries with low rates of literacy. It is statistically proved that countries applying pictorial labels have had an average 15% reduction in tobacco consumption. Governments should not just tell the truth about how tobacco sickens and kills prematurely, they should show the truth also by requiring the placement of pictorial health warnings on packs of tobacco. Fabrica designed the series of three posters for this initiative. Each poster surrealistically communicates the pictorial warnings’ main goal: to not just tell the truth, but show it.

HARD ROCK HOTEL – CASINO CHIPS SEX AND THE CITY: THE WEDDING COLLECTION – DVD SET
Just a sampling of the vast amount of work Meat and Potatoes has done for the hippest of all Las Vegas casinos. These limited-edition casino chips distill the ultra cool rock ‘n’ roll attitude of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino down to their purest form. Other work for the HRH&C include signage, blackjack table felt design, environmental graphics for their updated concert venue, “The Joint,” and branding of their myriad restaurants, boutiques, and nightclubs.
Meat and Potatoes was extended an unthinkable amount of creative control on New Line Cinema/Warner Bros.’ biggest movie release of 2008: Sex And The City. The result was The Wedding Collection, a 4-disc that brings the sense of fashion inherent in the beloved film and TV franchise to every design detail. Enrobed in a pink, padded, pearlescent outer box, this limited edition collection includes a numbered certificate of authenticity, an “invitation” to the wedding of the year, and a hard bound book featuring the now famous Vogue magazine photo shoot of Sarah Jessica Parker from the film. Multiple printing techniques (metallic inks, spot gloss varnishes, pearlescent finishes, and silk-screened disc labels) put just the right finishing touches on this instant classic.

CABO WABO – TEQUILA PACKAGING CABO UNO – TEQUILA RESERVA AñEJO
Cabo Wabo Tequila is very dear to Meat and Potatoes. Not only because it is the highest-quality tequila available (in our humble opinion, and we’ve sampled a lot of tequila), but also because M&P has been involved with the brand for many years and many incarnations. This bold new packaging design is hot off the press and features a die-cut, torn-edge label printed on uncoated stock, and then embossed and stamped with a satin foil. The result is a package that speaks to the incredible quality of the product, with the volume turned all the way up.
This super-premium tequila is the most refined offering from Cabo Wabo. Therefore it needed a refined package. Nestled in a hand made leather and wood box, the attractive, bell-shaped bottle comes sealed with a cork for shipping and a crystal stopper is provided for proper keeping after the first sip. Each bottle of this limited edition Cabo Uno is hand-numbered to mark its allocated status and authenticity.

Photographer Randee St. Nicholas captures the artist’s adventures in London and Prague over a series of 21 performances. The result is a gorgeous photographic and poetic essay designed by Meat and Potatoes, dripping with elegance, high fashion, and, of course, music. Lyrics and poetry by Prince provide the through line to this volume, which includes a live CD of his afterhours performances.

This is a graphic statement published in the Hong Kong newspaper Sunday Mingpao to critically reflect on the impermanence in life. I made use of a newspaper spread as the starting point, where on one side there is the sales report of the luxurious flat in Hong Kong, and on the other, a report on the earthquake in Si Chuan, China. The contrary dove me to put ontop of it an extract from the Buddhist sutra to reiterate the impermanence in life.
This is a graphic statement published in the Hong Kong newspaper Sunday Mingpao to critically reflect on the Olympic Games held in China. The photographs were taken on the day when the Olympic torch passed by Hong Kong. The text reads “In the era of collective dreaming, without any choice, everyone has to cling to the values of being fast, high and strong. Along the line, the strong will be stronger; the weak weaker.”

Szeged Symphony Orchestra Logo, Identity Card and Presentation BrochureNORBERT, DURST
This poster was designed to promote Mirko Ilic public lecture at Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar. Mirko Ilic is an illustrator. Born in Bosnia, Mirko Ilic illustrated and art-directed posters, record covers, book covers, magazines, and comics before arriving in the U.S. in 1986. He was commissioned by many of the major magazines and newspapers to work as an illustrator before going on to become Art Director for Time magazine’s international edition in 1991. In 1992 he became Art Director for the New York Times Op-Ed pages and in 1995 he established Mirko Ilic Corp., a graphic design, 3-D computer graphics and motion picture title studio.
The Szeged Symphony Orchestra’s historical roots back to the eighteenth century, but the orchestra only was established in 1969 as a separate entity. With this object the modern and also the classical line is present in the design. By the ordered distribution and shapes are apparents the free and easy elements like in the music. To design the identity and the brochure of the orchestra must be have two further aspects: youthful enthusiasm and elegance.

Park Chun Shin Invitation ExhibitionPARK, CHUN-SHIN
We did this playful corporate design for a research project which is developed as a mobile application by docomo Communication Labo-ratories Europe in Munich. You can can use the application to gather and share personal information centered on places you visit and people you meet. First we had to find a name for the project. The name is based on “i-you-it”, to indicate the concept of community and networking behind the project. When recognizing the phonetic similarity between “iyouit” and “inuit”, which is the general term for a group of indigenous people inhabiting the Arctic regions of Canada, Alaska and Greenland, we finally had the idea for the logo. It is used on printed material, on the interface design of the mobile device, and on the web portal; always embedded in a visual story with Eskimos, fish, whales, icebergs, snow and mobile phones. An art poster for Digital Artist Chun shin park’s solo exhibition. Visualized artist’s great pleasure for painting only with digits.

A silhouette is a reflection of a figure. We see a woman’s silhouette. We could image her in the silhouette. We see textile patterns in the silhouette. We could image the living patterns of her in the silhouette.
Aloha from the friendly chocolate makers on the island of Kauai, Paddy Kean, and her husband, Spencer McDonald. This socially conscious couple left the mainland and their successful film and television industry careers behind to seek a more peaceful and environmentally friendly life as confectioners where the traditional cacoa bean is grown and thrives. Using graphic patterns and rich colors for the cacao beans and the leaves from the Cacao tree, this new brand delivers an understated, yet traditional Hawaiian look and feel for this new busi-ness venture. Please watch for the delicious Kaulua Hawaiian chocolate bar at your local grocery store in the near future.

Calendar Design with Informational PatternsPARK, HYO-SHIN
To celebrate the world graphic day, I used many cropped national flag shapes and colors as design elements to demonstrate the colorful design world. Design shares many similarities and has no notional boundaries.
Information design is defined as an easy and clear ways for effective visual explanations. But it is still needed for certain attractive forms and aesthetics presenting to designing values. Informational patterns which are visual legends contained with inherent images. I designed calendar 2009 for Amoeba Design Company with informational patterns showing world heritage’s forms and their values.

Bless China: Sichuan Earthquake 5 1 2LAI, GIDEON WAI KWAN
The concept for the poster is based on inter-textualizing the screen of a radar. ...A radar dish, or antenna, transmits pulses of radio waves or microwaves which bounce off any object in their path. The object returns a tiny part of the wave’s energy to a dish or antenna which is usually located at the same site as the transmitter. The time it takes for the reflected waves to return to the dish enables a computer to calculate how far away the object is, its radial velocity and other characteristics... The poster is using the way that radars work by substituting the objects they depict with human specifications. This is done to provoke thought on the way that immigrants are treated, their possible reasons for immigrating and their wish for better lives.
The Designer use a big Chinese calligraphy to write the word ‘山’ (Mountain) which seems shaking and falling that represent earthquake. On the other hand, the background of the poster is full of folding and irregular lines that represent the movement of earth’s crust. That is the disaster of the Sichuan Earthquake. Many people lost their homes and their loved ones. What shall we do for this? The designer ap-preciates that many people showed their love to the victims through donation, site visit and provision of all kinds of material, and above all, some may have adopted the orphans. That moved the designer’s heart to write the slogan in the poster: The mountains can be departed, love never ends.

A collection of thoughts and images from Angkor Wat. Collages and photos responding to the nature of the pilgrimage and the multiple voices and paths of the collective experience.
The ZEBRA project incorporates the creative practice of visual communications into existing road markings. The project’s goal is to change the existing image of the pedestrian crossing using a new design dimension. In our intervention only existing crossings have been used. With their new visual image, they define the direction of movement inside/outside the pedestrian zone to users, letting them know that they are inside or outside the pedestrian zone. The ZEBRA project’s gallery is the street, the artists’ signatures are the works themselves, the viewers of the project are passers-by.

Color Management: A Comprehensive Guide for Graphic DesignersDREW, JOHN & MEYER, SARAH
Kali Nikitas, a speaker at UM-St. Louis, is an inspired educator who heads the design department at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. For this poster, My student Adam and I explored the theme suggested by her design company, Design for Love (+$) as well as her passionate approach to both teaching and design to create this creatively bursting, colorful and over-full poster. To give it an even warmer feel, we flocked the black lines to make them warm and fuzzy.
Color Management: A Comprehensive Guide for Graphic Designers, and its companion book, Acuity Color System, describe how to forecast the physical, psychological, and/or learned behavioral effects of color and how we can use color to create more meaningful messages. By unlocking expertise and demystifying theory, these books open the door to new and bold uses of color that communicate and entertain.

This book is a re-reading and mapping of some of the many dimensions of Lery’s text. Through a series of diagrams and charts, it explores the ways the author framed his arguments and attempts to visually translate these verbal strategies. Each double spread corresponds to a specific chapter in the original text and the maps were developed using at least one of four interpretation criteria: the physical, based on his detailed descriptions of places and creatures; the linguistic, based on the discursive patterns found in his prose; the sequential, based on the temporal dimension of the plot; and the referential, based on the relationship between author and subject.
