UV-C Disinfection

UV-C treatmentOver 100 years ago German scientists discovered that the top surface of lake-water was sterile when exposed to sunlight. Investigation led to the discovery of Ultraviolet light. Situated in the electro-magnetic spectrum between X-rays and visible light, Ultraviolet (UV) light has many beneficial properties. UV light is split into four main categories, UV-A, UV-B, UV-C and Vacuum UV. The UV-C spectrum (200 to 280 nanometers) is the most lethal range of wavelengths for microorganisms. This range, with 254 nanometers being the peak germicidal wavelength, is known as the Germicidal Spectrum.

UVC light has the ability to cause permanent damage to a wide variety of nuisance microorganisms in water. Certain species of microorganisms have now developed or adapted immunity to traditional disinfection tech-niques such as chlorine.

The Targeted MicroorganismEach type of microorganism requires a specific UV-C radiation exposure rate to successfully complete the dis-infection process. The targeted microorganism must be directly exposed to the UV-C radiation long enough for the radiation to penetrate the microorganism’s cell wall. However, it takes only seconds for UV-C light rays to inactivate waterborne microorganisms by breaking through the microorganism’s cell wall and disrupting their DNA. This often totally destroys the organism, or at the very least will impair its ability to reproduce.

In addition, the aluminum interior ensures the reflection of the UV-C rays, thereby increasing the efficiency up to 50%. The Blue Lagoon UV-C Timer + has an integrated control panel. With this panel, you can see when the lamp needs to be replaced. You can also adjust the running hours of the lamp. The Blue Lagoon Timer + is fitted with the ideal peristaltic pump for the dosing of a liquid solution into the piping system of your swimming pool. The neoprene hose makes it possible to add various types of chemical solutions to the water of your swimming pool. A dosage of up to 60 cc an hour is possible. OperationWith the Blue Lagoon Filter UV-C Heater you have a total pool solution. This new innovation asks for a new way of thinking in swimming pool filtration compared to traditional filtration methods.The system includes a strainer pipe screen filter, an ultraviolet germicidal UV-C lamp, a heat exchanger element, two automatic cylinder valves and an air blower. The total system is controlled by a touchscreen computer. The back-wash is done automatically after simply putting in the settings how often it is necessarily to clean the filter. The operation of this Filter UV-C Heater is based on the filtration capacity of the strainer pipe screen filter, the UV-C germicidal lamp and the heat exchanger. The water in the pool is driven by the pool pump and is forced to pass the heat exchanger element and further flows through the 25 micron filter opening of the strainer pipe screen filter. Inside the strainer pipe screen filter, the water is forced to flow through the first centimetre of the powerful UV-C radiation before it flows back to the pool. The UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm is generated by the Philips UV-C lamp and is ensuring a lethal effect on bacteria. The UV-C lamp will make sure your pool water is clean, fresh and clear in an efficient and environmentally-friendly manner. The strainer pipe screen filter acts as filtering element which retains the impurities in the water and will provide you a crystal clear swimming pool. Depending on the dirtiness, the strainer pipe screen filter should be back-washed. This can be set with the included touchscreen computer, so the maintenance of the swimming pool will be done for you. The pump automatically will stop and the 3way valve will turn in position. The air pump will blow the air from in the strainer pipe filter through the opening in the unit. All the dirt will blow loose from the filter because a small cyclone is created in the housing. When the 2way valve to the sewage will open automatically the dirt with the remain 5 litres of water that is inside the housing will flow strait to the sewage. Because of the design and the high surface the water has almost no resistance passing the filter. This results that low energy consuming pumps can be used to filter the entire swimming pool. Back-wash cleaning of the screen filter won’t cost more than 5 litres of wastewater loss, what make this a very green and environmentally product.

OperationThe “Blue Lagoon Ozone UV-C” must be connected to your swimming pool system. Using a pump, the water is pumped into the unit through the supplied reactor. Because of the the water pressure in the reactor, air is sucked through the Venturi system. The pressure in the reactor can be read on the manometer, and can be adjusted using the ball valve. The ideal pressure is between 0.4 and 0.7 bar. Air is sucked into the unit via the air valve and flows through the area between the quartz glass and the ozone UV-C lamp. Because air enters the unit via the lamp, it becomes loaded with ozone particles that were generated by the special ozone UV-C lamp, which produces 0.6 grams of ozone. After it has passed the ball valve, the ozone enriched air is then mixed with water in the reactor. The oxidation and sterilisation take place here, and a powerful disinfection process is achieved. The water-ozone mixture is then exposed to the 25 watt UV-C output generated by the lamp in the stainless steel housing. The lamp has a double function, producing ozone and UV-C light at the same time. The ozone particles in the water are completely broken down again by the UV-C device immediately after they have completed their function. This takes place because the ozone is mixed with water as it passes through the lamp for the second time. The 316L stainless steel housing provides an additional UV-C light reflection of up to 35%. The device produces ozone that is 100% safe; and the water that flows out no longer contains any ozone. What remains is fully disinfected, crystal clear swimming pool water that is free from bacteria. A minimal quantity of chlorine is recommended in your swimming pool water, as this will act as a buffer in the swimming pool. It will be necessary to collect the pool water for the period that the pump requires to process the full content of the pool. In this way, new micro-organisms will have no chance to develop.

With the Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer you test your pool water once every two weeks. You then only need to test your water’s value with the simple test strip supplied. And if necessary adjust the device to the correct level. Other ionizer systems dose approximately 2 ppm copper in your pool water. With Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ion-izer, a dose of 0,7 ppm will be enough to fully and safely disinfect your pool.

Operation The Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer will clean the water in your swimming pool through copper electrolysis combined with UV-C radiation. The Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer is placed on the piping system after the swimming pool filter. The swimming pool water then flows through the housing of the Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer. A UV-C lamp and a Copper Ionizer, are positioned within the housing, and the copper unit discharges a minimal amount of copper into the water flowing through the housing. These copper ions (Cu2+) in the water have a positive charge and destroy the cell walls of bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms. As the cell wall is thereby damaged, these organisms are no longer able to take up any nutrients, and are therefore unable to mul-tiply. The process of applying a positive charge to copper is called copper electrolysis. The copper in the water acts as a disinfecting buffer in your swimming pool and, in terms of results, can be compared with the effect of chlorine. The UV-C lamp that is positioned in the Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer generates UV-C light. This UV-C light produces UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm, ensuring that bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms are destroyed. Due to the length of the device, the water is ex-posed to this high level of radiation for a longer time, which destroys the DNA of bacteria, viruses and microorganisms. The Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer+ is placed on the piping system after the swimming pool filter. The swim-ming pool water then flows through the housing of the Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer+. A UV-C lamp and a Copper ionizer+, are positioned within the housing, and the copper unit discharges a minimal amount of copper into the water flowing through the housing. These copper ions (Cu2+) in the water have a positive charge and destroy the cell walls of bacteria, viruses and other primi-tive organisms. As the cell wall is thereby damaged, these organisms are no longer able to take up any nutrients, and are therefore unable to multiply. The process of applying a positive charge to copper is called copper electrolysis. The copper in the water acts as a disinfecting buffer in your swimming pool and, in terms of results, can be compared with the effect of chlorine. The UV-C lamp that is positioned in the Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer+ generates UV-C light. This UV-C light produces UV-C radiation with a wave-length of 253.7 nm, ensuring that bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms are destroyed. Due to the length of the device, the water is exposed to this high level of radiation for a longer time, which destroys the DNA of bacteria, viruses and microorganisms. The interior of the device made of 316L stainless steel, which ensures an additional reflection of the UV-C radiation, increasing the efficiency by up to 35%. The Blue Lagoon UV-C Copper Ionizer+ is fitted with the ideal peristaltic pump for the dosing of a liquid solu-tion into the piping system of your swimming pool. The neoprene hose makes it possible to add various types of chemical solutions to the water of your swimming pool. A dosage of up to 60 cc an hour is possible. Blue Lagoon UV-C UltrasoundWater contains particles and clusters of particles that are composed of a combination of micro-organisms, algae and inorganic salts, such as calcium particles. If the water is now treated with ultrasonic vibrations, most of these clusters will break down into minute particles. As a result, micro-organisms or algae that were “trapped” in such a cluster become free, and are therefore vulnerable to UV-C radiation. For this reason, treating water with ultrasonic vibrations before leading it past a UV-C lamp will ensure that the disinfection is very effective. The quartz tube containing the UV-C lamp will also become soiled less quickly as a result of the ultrasonic treatment. The water will thereby be exposed to the UV-C radiation more efficiently, and the disinfection result will be better. Ultrasound prevents scale deposits, this will result in less calcium being deposited on the parts of the swimming pool, such as the pump, the pool cover and other components.

OperationThe Blue Lagoon UV-C Ultrasound will clean your swimming pool water by means of ultrasonic sound vibrations combined with UV-C radiation. The Blue Lagoon UV-C Ultrasound is placed behind the swimming pool filter in the pool’s piping system. The swimming pool water flows through the housing of the Blue Lagoon UV-C Ultrasound. A UV-C lamp and an ultrasonic transducer are located within the housing. The water is first treated with ultrasonic vibrations. OperationThe Compact4pool is specially designed for smaller swimming pools, above-ground swimming pools and spas up to 20,000 litres. Safety and ease of use are the main features of this 4-in-1 device, consisting of a professional pump, a UV-C device, a filter and a pre-filter. The asynchronous pump sucks in the water via the pre-filter, where any coarse dirt is stopped. A space for a chlorine tablet to ensure an even emission of chlorine in the swimming pool water is also foreseen here. By means of the looking glass, it is possible to check the condition of the filter and to what extent the chlorine tablet has dissolved. Any fine dirt particles are collected in a filter cartridge that can easily be cleaned. Via this filter cartridge, the water flows past the 11 Watt UV-C lamp, where it is exposed to UV-C radiation. This radiation neutralises bacteria, viruses, algae and disinfects the water in a safe and efficient manner. Blue Lagoon Automatic Glass Filter

OperationThe Blue Lagoon Automatic Glass Filter is a full automatic swimming pool filter. It includes a ultraviolet germicidal UV-C lamp and five automatic valves which are controlled by a touchscreen computer. The system is doing the back-wash automatically after simply putting in the settings how often it is necessarily to clean the filter. The filter is made of fibre-glass-reinforced polypropylene. This material make the tank completely corrosion resistant. The operation of this Automatic Glass Filter is based on the filtration capacity of the glass filter media which can be placed inside includ-ing the combination with the UV-C lamp. The water in the pool is driven by the pool pump and forced to pass the UV-C light. In the filter, a UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm is generated, ensuring a lethal effect on bacteria. The UV-C lamp will ensure that your pool water is clean, fresh and clear in an efficient and environmentally-friendly manner. The water then is pushed through the glass filter media and flows further back to the pool. The glass acts as filtering elements which retains the impurities in the water and will provide you crystal clear swimming pool water. Depending on the dirtiness, the glass in the filter should be back-washed. This can be set with the included touchscreen computer, so the maintenance of the swimming pool will be done for you. The valves will turn in a position that the water flows in opposite direction trough the filter and take the dirt from the filter media strait to the sewage. Because of the design the water has less resistance passing the filter. This results that low power pumps can be used to filter the entire swimming pool which can save up to 40% energy consumption. Back wash cleaning of the glass filter media is easier compared to sand filter media. Glass filter media cannot absorb dirt like fat, cosmetics and oils but it repulse the dirt. This results in 25% less water loss during the back wash. The filter of course can still be used with a sand filter media if it is preferred.

The UV-C radiation neutralises bacteria, Algae, viruses and other primitive organisms and stops them from multiplying. Operation The Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer will clean the water in your swimming pool through copper electrolysis. We recommend to use this device in combination with a UV-C device for the best result. The Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer will, before the water goes back to the pool, be mounted between the pipes. The swimming pool water then flows through the housing of the Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer. A copper unit, or Electrolyzer, is positioned within the housing, and the copper unit discharges a minimal amount of copper into the water flowing through the housing. These copper ions (Cu2+) in the water have a positive charge and destroy the cell walls of algae, bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms. As the cell wall is thereby damaged, these organisms are no longer able to take up any nutrients, and are therefore unable to multiply. The process of applying a positive charge to copper is called copper electrolysis. The copper in the water acts as a disinfecting buffer in your swimming pool and, in terms of results, can be compared with the effect of chlorine.Thanks to the Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer, your swimming pool water will be disinfected efficiently and safely, and the quality of your water will remain excellent.

General conditions of supply and payment

Article 1. Applicability of these conditions1. These conditions apply to all offers and all agreements between Van Erp International B.V. and a

purchaser, to which Van Erp International B.V. has declared these conditions to be applicable, insofar as these conditions have not been departed from expressly and in writing by parties.

2. The present conditions are likewise applicable to all agreements with Van Erp International B.V. with regard to performance in which third parties need to be involved.

Article 2. Quotations1. All of our offers are without engagement unless a deadline for acceptance is specified in the quotation.2. In the case of a multiple quotation there is no obligation upon us to supply part of the goods included

in the offer at a corresponding proportion of the specified price, nor does our offer automatically apply to repeat orders.

3. Quotations made by Van Erp International B.V. are valid for 30 days unless otherwise indicated. Van Erp International B.V. is only bound by the quotations if acceptance thereof by the purchaser is confirmed by him in writing within 30 days. The prices specified in a quotation are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise indicated.

Article 3. Delivery1. Unless otherwise agreed, delivery is ex factory.2. The other party is obliged to accept delivery of the items purchased when they are delivered to him

or when they are made available to him in accordance with the agreement.3. If the other party refuses to take delivery or fails to provide information or instructions necessary for

the delivery, the items will be stored at the other party’s risk. In this case the other party will be liable for all additional costs, including in any case storage costs.

Article 4. Delivery time1. All delivery times stipulated by Van Erp International B.V. are approximate and are never of the essence.2. In the event of late delivery, the purchaser must therefore declare Van Erp International B.V. to be in

default in writing and grant Van Erp International B.V. a reasonable period in which to fulfil its obligations.

3. The delivery time specified by Van Erp International B.V. does not commence until all the required information is in its possession.

Article 5. Part deliveriesVan Erp International B.V. is permitted to deliver items sold in parts. This is not the case if a part delivery has no independent value. If the items are delivered in parts, Van Erp International B.V. is authorised to invoice for each part separately.

Article 6. Call-off orders1. A call-off order is defined as: an agreement under which the purchaser undertakes to take delivery of

a certain quantity of items from the seller within a certain period and the latter undertakes to deliver the items to the purchaser whenever the purchaser calls them off.

2. The purchaser is obliged to call off the agreed quantity of items within the agreed period or, if no period applies, at the latest within 6 months of the agreement coming into being. Failing timely call-off, seller is entitled, after issuing a demand, to deliver and invoice for the items or to sell them.

3. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, purchaser is obliged to call off the order at least 15 days before the desired delivery date. Seller is at all times entitled to deliver the order a reasonable length of time in advance of the desired delivery date.

Article 7. Technical requirements, etc.1. Where items to be supplied in the Netherlands are to be used outside the Netherlands, Van Erp

International B.V. is not responsible for the items to be supplied meeting the technical requirements, standards and/or regulations laid down in laws or provisions of the country where the items are to be used. This does not apply if when the agreement was concluded usage abroad was mentioned and all necessary information and specifications were presented.

2. All other technical requirements that the purchaser stipulates that the items to be supplied must meet and which differ from the normally applicable requirements must be expressly stipulated by the purchaser when the purchase agreement is concluded.

Article 8. Samples, models and examplesIf Van Erp International B.V. shows or issues a model, sample or example, this is deemed only to have been shown or issued by way of indication: the qualities of items to be supplied may differ from the sample, model or example unless it was expressly stipulated that the supply would be in accordance with the sample, model or example shown or issued.

Article 9. Termination of the agreement1. An agreement between Van Erp International B.V. and a purchaser can immediately be terminated in

the following cases:• if after the agreement is concluded Van Erp International B.V. learns of circumstances that give Van Erp

International B.V. good reason to fear that the purchaser will not fulfil his obligations.• if when the agreement was being concluded Van Erp International B.V. requested the purchaser to

provide security for fulfilment and such security is not forthcoming or is insufficient despite a demand.

In the aforementioned cases Van Erp International B.V. is authorised to suspend the continued performance of the agreement or to terminate the agreement; this without prejudice to Van Erp International B.V.’s right to claim compensation.

2. If circumstances occur with regard to people and/or materials that Van Erp International B.V. is using or customarily uses when performing the agreement that are of such a nature that performance of the agreement becomes impossible or so problematic and/or disproportionately expensive that compliance with the agreement can no longer in all reasonableness be required, Van Erp International B.V. is authorised to terminate the agreement.

Article 10. Warranty1. Van Erp International B.V. guarantees that the items delivered by it are free from design, material and

manufacturing faults for a period of 3 months following delivery.2. If any item shows a design, material or manufacturing fault, the purchaser is entitled to have the item

repaired. The seller can opt to replace the item if repair meets with objections. The purchaser is only entitled to replacement if repair of the item is not possible.

3. The warranty does not apply if damage is the result of incorrect treatment or incorrectly following instructions.

4. If the warranty relates to a product made by a third party, the warranty is limited to the warranty given by the relevant manufacturer for that product.

Article 11. Reservation of title1. All items supplied by Van Erp International B.V. remain the property of Van Erp International B.V. until

the purchaser has fulfilled all the following obligations arising from all purchase agreements concluded with Van Erp International B.V.

2. Items supplied by Van Erp International B.V. that fall under reservation of title as stipulated in section 1 may only be sold on as part of normal business operations and may in no event be used as a means of payment.

3. The purchaser is not authorised to pledge the items falling under reservation of title nor to encumber

them in any other way.4. Purchaser hereby unconditionally and irrevocably grants permission to Van Erp International B.V. or to

a third party to be designated by it to enter all locations where Van Erp International B.V.’s property is situated and to remove such items from there in all cases in which Van Erp International B.V. wishes to exercise its property rights.

5. If third parties seize items supplied under reservation of title or wish to establish or assert rights thereto, purchaser is obliged to notify Van Erp International B.V. of this fact as soon as can reasonably be expected.

6. The purchaser undertakes to insure and to keep insured the items supplied under reservation of title against damage caused by fire, explosion and water and against theft and to make the relevant insurance policy available for inspection at the first request.

Article 12. Defects / complaint deadlines1. The purchaser must examine or arrange for the examination of the items purchased upon delivery or

as soon thereafter as possible. In the process the other party must check whether the delivery conforms to the agreement, i.e.:

• whether the correct items have been delivered.• whether the items delivered correspond in terms of quantity (e.g. the amount and the number) to the

agreed quality requirements or, if none has been stipulated, to the requirements that may be stipulated for normal usage and/or commercial purposes.

2. If visible defects or faults are found, the purchaser must notify Van Erp International B.V. in writing of them within 3 days of delivery.

3. Even if the other party complains within the deadline, his obligation to pay and take delivery of orders placed remains unaffected.

4. Items may be returned to Van Erp International B.V. only after prior written permission.

Article 13. Price/ price increases1. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the prices quoted by us are:• in Dutch currency• exclusive of VAT• on the basis of minimum quantities applied by us• exclusive of transport costs• ex factory2. If Van Erp International B.V. agrees a certain price with the other party, Van Erp International B.V. is

nevertheless entitled to increase the price if Van Erp International B.V. can demonstrate that between the moment of offer and the moment of delivery significant price changes have occurred with regard to raw materials, currency and/or wages.

3. If the price rise exceeds 10%, the purchaser is entitled to terminate the agreement.

Article 14. Packaging1. The purchaser is obliged to return any loan packaging within 14 days, empty and in undamaged

condition. If the purchaser fails to fulfil his obligations with regard to the above, all costs arising therefrom are for his account. Such costs shall include the costs arising from late return and the costs of replacement, repair or cleaning.

2. If following a reminder the purchaser fails to return loan packaging within the period specified therein, the seller is entitled to replace it and to charge for the costs of doing so, provided the seller has announced these measures in its reminder.

3. The goods may be transported by Van Erp International B.V., for account and risk of the purchaser.

Article 15. Payment1. Payment must be effected, following receipt of a pro forma invoice relating to the order, in a manner

to be indicated by Van Erp International B.V. and in the currency in which the invoice is denominated.2. If the payment of the (pro forma) invoice has not been received within 14 days following invoice date,

the order will be cancelled.3. In the event of the purchaser’s liquidation, bankruptcy or protection from creditors, Van Erp

International B.V.’s receivables shall be immediately due and the purchaser’s obligations in respect of Van Erp International B.V. shall be immediately enforceable.

4. Payment must be effected without discount or setoff.

Article 16. Collection costsIf the purchaser is in default as regards fulfilling one or more of his obligation, all costs incurred to obtain settlement out of court are for purchaser’s account.

Article 17. LiabilityVan Erp International B.V. is liable in respect of the purchaser solely in the following manner:1. For damage arising from defects in delivered items, only the liability as laid down in Article 10

(warranty) of these condition shall apply.2. Van Erp International B.V. is only liable if damage is caused by intent or by gross culpability on the part

of Van Erp International B.V. or its subordinates. 3. Van Erp International B.V.’s liability is limited to the amount of the payment to be made by Van Erp

International B.V.’s liability insurer in the relevant case.4. If the insurance company provides no coverage or does not make a payment and Van Erp International

B.V. is liable, then Van Erp International B.V.’s liability is limited to twice the invoice value of the transaction, or at any rate that portion of the transaction to which the liability relates.

Article 18. Force majeure1. In these general conditions force majeure is defined, besides that defined in the law and jurisprudence

in that regard, as all extraneous causes, foreseen or unforeseen, over which we have no control, yet as a result of which we are unable to fulfil our obligations, including strikes at Van Erp International B.V.’s company.

2. During a force majeure situation Van Erp International B.V.’s supply and other obligations are suspended. If the period for which fulfilment by Van Erp International B.V. of the obligations is not possible as a result of a force majeure situation lasts for longer than 2 months, both parties are authorised to terminate the agreement, without in that case there being any obligation to pay compensation.

3. If upon the commencement of the force majeure situation Van Erp International B.V. has already partly fulfilled its obligations, or has only partly fulfilled obligations, it is entitled to invoice separately for the portion already delivered or the deliverable portion and the other party is obliged to pay this invoice as though it were a separate contract. This does not apply, however, if the portion already delivered or the deliverable portion has no independent value.

Article 19. Settlement of disputesAll disputes arising from agreements concluded under these conditions and from the agreements resulting therefrom may, unless the cantonal court in the matter is competent to hear a dispute of this kind, only be brought before the competent court at Eindhoven, including proceedings to obtain injunctive relief. Van Erp International B.V. is however at all times entitled instead of this to submit the dispute to the court in purchaser’s domicile or to a court that is competent in some other way.

Article 20. Applicable lawAll agreements between Van Erp International B.V. and the purchaser shall be governed by Dutch law. The Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods is expressly excluded.

Article 21. Location of conditionsThese conditions are lodged at the office of the Chamber of Commerce in Eindhoven. The applicable version shall always be the one most recently lodged or the one that applied at the time that the relevant transaction came into being.
