Bastide de St. Apollinaire is a beautiful, authentic and renovated 17th century stone country house and 11th century chapel located close to the Gorge du Verdon and Lac de Sainte Croix.Framed by 100 year old chestnut trees, surrounded by nature and imbued with history, the house guarantees a hushed night’s sleep. After a day of exploring the medieval towns, rugged canyons, postcard lavender fields. Bastide Apollinaire offers its guests 5 rooms, connected by a large central room, where breakfast is served and where guests can socialize. Behind the kitchen there is a reading room with a small library with precious books and guides about Provence and its traditions. Guests can also choose to rent an apartment for four people independent from the rest of the house. Surrounded by acres of unspoiled wilderness to a few hours from the Cote d’Azur and the French Alps as well as the main medieval towns you can plan a holiday of relaxa-tion and discovery. The written history of this important national monument begins with this text written in 1178 by the german emperor Frederic Barberousee under whose pro-tection this church lay. In 1233, St Apollinaire became part of the Hospitaliers de Saint Jean de Jerusalem (Knights of Malta) and became an pilgrims stopping point for their journey from Italy to St. Jacques de Compostella in Spain. The Chapel be-came a national monument in 1978 as it is one of a few remaining fortified chapels in the region.

Is a bedroom with a queen size bed and two windows- witha views of the chesnut trees and the lavander field. A small ante chambre with a desk and acces to the bath-room with a stone sink and restored wooden platform and wonderful shower in stone tiles.

In front of the Suite Maron a badroom with a double size bed A small ante- chambre with a w/c and separate show-er/sink. Flower and Roses inspired the interior design. All renovated and serene.

At the same level of the other rooms is a bedroom with ex-posed wooden beams and a window to the fields. This room has a antecham-bre with a built in armoire and beautiful bathroom with a view over the tiled roof.

Two rooms at the end of the large room (the Monk’s quar-ters) have double beds and wonderful views over the country side. They share a bathroom built between the rooms with two sinks, towel warmer, and shower.

Upstairs in the Bastide you can find the suite and other rooms. The apartment has a separate entrance from the house and comprises two rooms including a full size kitchen, eating area and living room.
