for the AL-KO lawnmower models. Only selected and carefully tested

engines are used on the mowers. Reliability, easy of operation and envi-

ronmental friendliness are the most important features.

Only engines from well-known manufacturers, as well as AL-KO engines

built according to our specifi cation, fi tted to in AL-KO lawnmowers.

For more than 90 years, Briggs & Stratton has

been a leading manufacturer of air-cooled 4-stroke

engines. Nine different engine models are used at

AL-KO.

Honda engines are extremely effi cient engines with

an overhead camshaft (OHC) and valve control.

The OHC arrangement offers advantages, because

the engine can be built more compactly and lighter

overall.

OHV technology – more power, less consumption

Modern OHV technology is used in AL-KO PRO QSS engines. OHV is an

engine design in which the inlet and exhaust valves are arranged in the

cylinder head. This means the combustion chamber in the engine has

an optimum shape, allowing signifi cant power increases to be achieved,

with low consumption.

QSS – Quickstart system

For particularly easy starting, AL-KO engines are equipped

with a clever Quickstart system. The automatic choke sets the

correct fuel/air mixture whatever the operating temperature.

There is no manual choke or primer. In this way, incorrect

operation is ruled out.

All grasses only withstand being

mown down to a certain growth

height, therefore it is important to

determine the ideal cutting height for

the lawn. If the grass is mown too low,

it will no longer be capable of form-

ing new stocks. The lawn should be

mowed regularly, but never more than

half of its growth height (at the time of

mowing).

A dense, healthy and also hard-wear-

ing sward can be achieved by regular

mowing, controlling the water supply

and providing adequate nutrients.

Mulching or side discharge:

If required, e.g. for longer grass after a holiday,

or for meadows and orchards, the mulching

mower can easily be converted into a side-

discharge mower.

Quick height adjustment:

The cutting height can be changed on each axle

quickly and easily. The full-width axles offer stabil-

ity and true-running.

Optimum driving comfort because of large, XL

wheels that do not damage the lawn. Highly ap-

pealing wheel trims in spoke design.

Front-wheel drive (460 BR model):

The labour-saving alternative offers excellent

performance on undulating ground. When ma-

noeuvring, the front wheels can be lifted clear off

the ground with the drive still activated, allowing

the mower to be turned.

Mulching means mowing the lawn,

disposing of the clippings and ap-

plying a biological fertiliser, all in

one go.

The cut grass stalks are kept within

the completely enclosed mower

unit, chopped extremely fi nely by

the special blade, and blown back

into the turf as a natural fertiliser.

The lawn should be cut once a

week. In the strong growth phase

in spring, it should even be mown

after 4 or 5 days.
