Satisfactory Progress Policy Satisfactory attendance and academic progress is a requirement for all students enrolled at Natural Images Beauty College. This policy ensures each student is making measurable progress toward program completion and will be a marketable member of the profession.

Maximum Time-frame A student must complete the educational program in no more than 150% of the published length of the program.

Attendance Progress Policy Students must maintain a minimum cumulative attendance of 70% of their published schedule to be making satisfactory attendance progress. The academic program is measured in actual clock hours. Daily attendance including tardies, early time-outs and absences will be evaluated. Unless the student is on a leave of absence, a student who does not attend or contact the school for 30 days will be terminated from enrollment.

Academic Progress Policy Students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade average of 75% to be making satisfactory academic progress. Students will be evaluated on theory, clinic and practical work.

Evaluation Checkpoints Satisfactory progress is monitored monthly and evaluated by an instructor at the end of Phase 1 and at least every other month. The instructor meets with the student during the evaluation checkpoint to discuss strengths and areas for improvement. The student has the opportunity to comment, then the student and instructor both sign the evaluation. Students who meet the minimum progress requirements will be considered making satisfactory progress until the next scheduled evaluation checkpoint. For a student to be considered making satisfactory progress as of the midpoint of the program, the student must meet minimum progress requirements on at least one evaluation checkpoint by the midpoint of the program.

Probation Any student failing to meet minimum progress requirements will be placed on Probation and will have monthly evaluation checkpoints. For financial aid disbursement, if applicable, a student on Probation 1 or Probation 2 is considered making satisfactory progress.

If a student fails to meet minimum progress requirements, the student is placed on Probation 1. At the next checkpoint, the student is placed on Probation 2 if still failing to meet minimum requirements. At the next checkpoint, the student is placed on Final Probation if still failing to meet minimum requirements. At the next checkpoint if still failing to meet minimum requirements, the student is terminated from enrollment. The terminated student may re-enroll in the program after 30 days if she/he can show the intent and ability to meet academic and attendance progress requirements; the student must complete a new contract with the school for the hours remaining to graduate.

Page 22: Catalog - StyleNetstylenet.com/naturalimagesbc/beauty-college-information/courses/catalog-2009.pdfAdditional equipment and supplies may be required by the Texas Department of Licensing

When a student on Probation 1, Probation 2 or Final Probation improves to meet minimum requirements at a checkpoint, the probation will be downgraded one level for the following checkpoint. The probation will continue to be downgraded until the student is removed from probation provided the student continues to meet minimum requirements at each checkpoint.

Appeal A student may appeal the determination of Satisfactory Progress and termination of any applicable financial aid through the admissions director, based on documented extenuating circumstances.

Leave of Absence An approved leave of absence allows the student to be absent from the program for a maximum of 90 days. Attendance and academic progress are not affected by the leave, and the student returns from the leave of absence on the same progress status in place before departure. Any Department of Education funds will be on hold during the leave of absence.

Withdrawal / Course Incomplete Progress status at the time of withdrawal or point of failing to complete the training will be noted in the student’s file.

Satisfactory Progress / Re-enrollment A student making satisfactory progress at withdrawal may re-enroll and be considered making satisfactory progress at re-entry. A student failing to meet minimum progress requirements at withdrawal may apply for re-enrollment; if accepted for re-enrollment, the student will be on probation for a minimum of 30 days.

If a student is ill or an emergency arises, the student must notify an instructor before 8:30am that day. If a student requires extra time beyond the scheduled graduation date to complete the program, an additional fee will be assessed.

Leave of Absence An approved leave of absence allows the student to remain enrolled but be absent from the program for a maximum of 90 days; no more than 2 leaves will be approved per student. The student’s contract period and maximum time frame will be extended by the same number of days taken in the approved leave of absence. Students meeting minimum progress requirements may request a leave of absence; the request must be in writing and approved prior to the leave.
