Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC)

AF focal point for all Casualty Matters – AFPC Randolph AFB TX

Policies on deceased, missing, duty status-whereabouts unknown (DUSTWUN), very seriously ill or injured (VSI), seriously ill or injured (SI), incapacitating illness or injury (III), and not seriously ill or injured (NSI) personnel

Administers the worldwide personal notification program

Monitors the casualty assistance program

Refers ANG and USAFR units without an MPF to the nearest active duty Air Force installation for help in carrying out their casualty service responsibilities

Installation Commander (IC)

Installation Commander Responsibilities

Implements the installation’s Casualty Services Program by:

Ensuring all base agencies fully support the objectives of the Air Force Casualty Services program

Provides the CAR access to all known information and documents needed to report casualties

Determine the service member's casualty status

Informing the NOK of all known circumstances surrounding the service member's death

Note: Duty assigned to unit commander or person designated to notify NOK
