From the Principals Desk Children Pedestrian Safety Before and After School Hours At Castlereagh Public School we are limited to where we can park to

pick up and drop off children at school. Please pay specific attention to all signposted parking signs, speed limits and bus zones. When your children exit and enter your vehicle please ensure that they do so from the curb side door, which provides a buffer away from approaching traffic. The safety and wellbeing of all children is of the utmost of importance to us all. Please remain vigilant around our school zone when in vehicles and we will continue to reinforce this message back at a school level too with the students. Stage 3 Berry Sport and Recreation Camp Last week the Stage 3 class attended the NSW Sport and Recreation Camp to Berry with Maraylya Public School. I was extremely impressed with the behaviour, positive attitude and team support that was on display from all students from both Public Schools. Camp provides opportunities for students to grow in confidence and independence while bonding with their classmates. The students participated in Bush Craft, Cookout, Giant Swing, Rock Climbing, Vertical Challenges, Dark Maze and Archery. The weather while away threatened to rain, however we managed to stay dry during all our activities. A fantastic time was had by all who attended. Already we have our Canberra Camp in the processes of being planned for 2019. Thank you students, parents and staff (in particular Mrs. Formosa) for supporting our camp this year.

The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. This survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will assist in maintaining high standards and improving standards at Castlereagh Public School. The parent survey will be conducted up until Friday 12 October 2018. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated. information needed leading into 2019. If you know of someone who is enrolling at Castlereagh Public School and has not yet done so, could you please pass on our school details? Additionally, if you have children in Kindergarten to Year 5 and are planning on moving at the end of the year, that information is important also. I wish you all a very happy and safe fortnight ahead. Kind Regards Mr. Tony Jeff Principal School Lunches School lunches are available to order online. Please go to www.myschoollunchbox.com.au and follow instructions on how to order.

Crunch and Sip Castlereagh Public School is a certified ‘Crunch and Sip’ school. All classes have a ‘Crunch and Sip’ break during the day where children are encouraged to eat fruit and sip water. A tally of the fruit eaten is kept as it is one of the activities the

children can complete to obtain their Healthy Lifestyle Challenge, Healthy Badge. Waste Free Wednesdays Every Wednesday is a waste free day at CPS. This means whatever food and drink wrappings/scraps that the children have that day must be taken home with their lunches, a class tally is kept of the number of children having ‘nude foods’! These are foods that have no wrapping but come in a reusable container. Thank you for your continued support for these two programs. Ice Blocks & Drinks

Ice blocks will be sold Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at lunch time. They range from 60c to $2 in price. We will only be selling Water and Apple juice; the poppers will be sold at $1 each and the water at $2 each. They will also be sold on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at lunchtime.
