Abstract
In this session, we will explore how the University of California Office
of the President (UCOP) uses CA Application Performance Management
(APM) to safeguard the user experience with end-to-end monitoring
from their front end applications to the backend on the mainframe.
UCOP manages critical, high profile applications for the University of
California systems. CA APM has become an “application detective”
for UCOP, providing a single pane of glass to see the whole picture
and helping drive a deeper understanding of the components of
applications. CA APM helps UCOP resolve problems faster with visibility
that goes all the way down into the mainframe.

CA APM Lessons Learned
Mind your capacity– Grow your APM infrastructure along with your monitoring
Localize metrics data– Keep TIM End User metrics separate EM from Agent metrics
Wait for .1 releases, but don’t miss the good upgrades
Use a test environment and plan your upgrades
