II. Basic Information (developmental years)Jalanie is the 3rd child among 5 siblings. He grew and was raised up in an impoverished province of Marawi and was reared only by her mother because his father already passed away when he was at a young age. He comes from an Islam family particularly a Muslim Maranao. He says that his family was a kind of poor and experiencing a hard life. In addition to he tells me that his relationship towards his family particularly to his other siblings were just fine and common except to his mother whom sometimes he is having deep significant misunderstandings that means a lot to him. Jalanie lived a plain and simple life in his place.Jalanie did finished only grade 2 and moved on a life working as a farmer planting and plowing rice in the field and planting other crops assisting his older brother. In the province as a teenager, he goes along with his friends whom he knows well since he was a child. The turning point of Jalanies life was when the time came that one night, his friends whom he knows and trusted well invited him saying that they will go to the city proper to stroll around and have some fun. Jalanie admitted that he is a person who loves to hangout with friends and since it was already evening and he doesnt have any work to do, he then was convinced and go out in order not to break their brotherhood. He shared that he has a huge respect for his mother. Anywhere he goes, he stated that he always asks for permission regardless what is the response of his mother to him and because according to Jalanie, that is his sign of respect that his mother knows where he is even if her mother will not allow him. Later on that night on a car, he fell asleep and suddenly woke up astonished when he saw police officers who checked their car and found out suspected packs of Methamphetamine (Shabu) inside their car. He also found out that he was in a wrong place instead of going to Marawi City; He was in Toril, Davao City which makes him confused and very surprised to what is going on. He felt deceived by his friends and was very worried.

Jalanies confession to me was heart breaking, genuine and regrets. He stated that he hasnt really used drugs in his whole life. He was arrested together with his friends and admitted that they were beaten up in a dark room at Sta. Ana Police station Davao City. According to Jalanie, he felt blank on the months he stayed on jail. His family and his aunt were crying when they heard the news that traveled a long way to look for him.Moving forward, he said that despite the trials and unexpected twists and turns on his life, going to the center made him feel secure, secure and come up with the realization that he is very lucky for the second chance. He doesnt want to go back to jail and have high hopes to move forward. Jalanie said that he had high hopes after his life inside the center. He misses his family so much and is longing for a visit. He explains that he has really deep regrets on his wrong decisions and learned a lot from it. Currently, Jalanie enjoys the center so far and happy with his current situation.

III.Behavioral ObservationDuring our conversation, he was shy of his being but open to conversation, his sincerity comes out to him when he speaks I saw it in his eyes that definitely made me feel that he has something to share. He is focused, matured enough and explains with actions. He is calm and steady. I did not see any hesitations, he has good attitude towards the one interviewing.

IV.Evaluation/RecommendationJalanie Usman needs to develop his confidence more as a person. Although I talked to his house parent Tatay Toto to know him better, so far Jalanie is good and should continue his good performance in the center. Through the activities, I can see that hes improving and doing well. He should be more open socially because my co-interns told me that he has a selective behavior and doesnt talk to new people around him. He is improving in everything. He has to focus more on reading because he is having a hard time reading.
