This session shifts away from the law and focuses on three behaviors all organizations should expect from every employee: Respect, Regard, and Courtesy. Legal ComplianceWage and Hour Basics

Keep your workplace compliant by learning about the most current wage and hour laws. Without a proper understanding of those laws and their exceptions, compliance can be a challenge. Key learning points include: federal and state regulations; travel time; exempt vs. non-exempt; overtime vs. “comp” time; rest and meal periods; deductions; fi nal paychecks; recordkeeping; and, penalties.

Basics of Family Leave

Understanding the rules and dynamics between different leave laws and your organization’s policies and practices is the key to managing risk associated with leaves of absence. This session is designed to provide a basic understanding of the many leave laws that affect your workplace, including statutory requirements for OFLA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation and other applicable leaves, seven steps to administer leave, and how to deal with common leave issues.

Reasonable Suspicion Training

All supervisors and managers need to know how to recognize the signs and symptoms of and effectively respond to drug and alcohol use. Key learning points include: elements of reasonable suspicion; observing signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use and abuse; how to document, approach employees and arrange for reasonable suspicion tests; and, avoiding the most common mistakes.

Basic Medic First Aid® and AED

Participants who complete this workshop will receive a successful certifi cation card in CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) and fi rst aid. The program meets OSHA requirements for the states of Oregon and Washington. This workshop will include training in basic skills and basic AED (automated external defi brillator) operation.

Managing employee leaves is one of the more challenging compliance topics. Because this topic is so tedious, effective management requires more than just the basics.
