CASA for Children of Essex County
Annual Report For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015
CASA for Children of Essex County
Nate’s parents abandoned him when he was a toddler.
He’s been in foster care ever since.
Now 8 years old, he lives with Mr. and Mrs. Collins and
their three children. They love him very much but his
social and behavioral challenges are disruptive. They
need help but don’t know how to get it…
CASA was assigned to Nate’s case and was able to secure
appropriate educational and therapeutic resources to
provide stability and security for this traumatized child.
Nate’s behavior began to improve and the Collins’s
decided to adopt him. When he told everyone he was
glad to be with the Collins family until he was grown up,
Mrs. Collins replied,
“No, you’ll be with us forever”

Dear Friends,
In a day and age when instant gratification is always at our fingertips, we
would like to THANK YOU for supporting a truly enduring mission…to improve
the lives of abused and neglected children in our community.
For thirty years, CASA for Children of Essex County has been investing in the
lives of our most vulnerable children. During that time we have witnessed
thousands of little miracles performed by ordinary people turned heroes. CASA
volunteers work diligently to keep our children safe and bring them closer to a
stable and permanent home. Through this work they have helped build the
Foundation of a Generation.
For children facing the uncertain future of foster care, a CASA Advocate may
be their life raft. An unpaid, unbiased, unobligated individual devoted wholly to
that child’s best interests. The work is never easy, but it is always worthwhile!
We are so grateful for the support and partnership of our community. We
hope you will see in this report the powerful impact of your investment and join
us in celebrating 30 years of service. Our success is Your success!
Most Sincerely,
Tracy Reilly Mitchell Decter Co-President Co-President

The mission of CASA for Children of Essex County is to promote the welfare of children who have been
removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or abandonment by providing a safety net of
support, advocacy and mentorship. CASA trains and supervises volunteers to speak up for the best
interests of these children in court, to ensure that each child has the opportunity to thrive by receiving
needed services and assistance while helping to move the child towards a safe and permanent home.
