Slide 2 Slide 3 Cars are a mode of transportation. Cars produce toxic gases. MPH means Miles Per Hour. Thats it. Slide 4 In this part, you will learn what I learned Slide 5 ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slide 6 Inside a car, there is a part called an internal combustion engine. Inside that, there is another part called a cylinder. Inside that, there is yet ANOTHER part called a piston. The explosions, which are formed when gas is burned in the cylinder, push the piston, thus turning the wheels. When the gas pedal is pushed, air is pushed into the cylinder. Oxygen (O) mixes with the gasoline, making the explosions bigger, making you go faster. The internal combustion engine has many moving parts, so it needs something called motor oil. Motor oil stops friction, cleans the engine and stops the parts from overheating. The battery powers everything from the dashboard to the Air Conditioning. How a battery works is a different matter entirely (though I know that two!). The suspensio n is a series of springs and shock absorbers that allow you to go on rough road without bouncing up and down. Cars create pollution and toxic gases like Carbon Dioxide (C) and Sulfur Dioxide (S). Some cars have a catalytic converter which converts toxic gases to slightly less toxic gases. Slide 7
