If you have information or suggestions such as a learning style or classroom structure that benefits your child and will assist us in making an appropriate placement, all inquiries need to be directed to the Principal or Vice Principal no later than May 10, 2019 . When teachers, along with school administration, get together to create new class lists, we will consider the above information to help make our final decisions. Please note, the final decision for the placement of all students at Carrville Mills rests with the Principal and Vice Principal, in consultation with staff. Thank you in advance for your support and confidence in making the best possible choice for your child’s class placement for next year. May 2019

April has been another exciting month at Carrville Mills PS. Although it seems that summer is just around the corner, we still have two full months of school left, and we are sure May and June will be busy months.

The month of April was filled with many events and school wide activities. Our School Council hosted Games Night on April 11, 2019. The gym was full of excitement with over 100 students and caregivers. We want to thank our school council and outstanding volunteers for organizing another successful event! School Council

Our school council is busy planning and preparing for one of Carrville Mills’ favourite events of the

year - CARNIVAL! Come join us for our school community celebration on Thursday June 6, 2019. All

Carrville Mills students, caregivers, relatives and staff are welcome to join us for participation in

games, music and various fun activities. Further information will be shared electronically in the

coming weeks.

Future Council Meetings: Our remaining meetings are May 9th and June 13th from 7:00-8:30 pm in the library. Come hear about the success of school council initiatives from this year and be a part of the planning for next year. We are always welcoming members of our school community to join us. We look forward to working with you to support our students! EQAO Assessment For those parents with children in grades 3 and/or 6, please note that your child will be participating in the Grade 3 and Grade 6 standards-based assessment, known as EQAO. This year students will be participating in the assessment from May 21 to 31, 2019. Specifically, our Grade 3 students will participate between May 21 and May 24, while our Grade 6 students between May 27 and May 31. Please ensure that you don’t book any family holidays and/or medical appointments during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school. As many parents and educators are aware, EQAO assessments are used in schools to plan for continuous student improvement in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy. The school based results assist in developing goals for improvement, namely by targeting areas in the curriculum which may require additional focus. Registration and Moving

As you may be aware, planning for the 2019-2020 school year is underway. At this time, if you are aware of any family, friends or neighbours who have children born in 2015, please remind them to register their child as soon as possible. In addition, if you are planning to move prior to September, please ensure that you call the office to update your records.
