September 9, 2015 Mona Cook 700 Locust Ave Long Beach, CA 90813 Dear Principal Cook: My partners and I attend California State University Long Beach and we are currently enrolled in a course called EDSP 355: Collaborative Models of Inclusive Education. The instructor is Professor Mardell Nash. As part of the course, we have been assigned a group project. The purpose of this project is to observe how schools, families, and communities collaborate together to serve children with diverse needs. Here is a list of activities that are required to complete this project: 1. Speak with general and special education teachers, other school personnel, and parents about the school’s efforts at building family/school/community partnership and take notes from these interviews. Keep interviewees’ names confidential (e.g. Mrs. S.) 2. Attend school activities or events when possible (e.g. PTO/PTA meeting). 3. Write a descriptive analysis based upon observations and interviews. We would greatly appreciate being able to complete this project at your school. If you have any questions, you may reach me at (619)-306-1555. You may also contact my professor at [email protected] or at (562)-883-0615. Thank you, Dominic Pizarro [email protected] (619)-306-1555
