Acquire the mandatory trainingto enter the construction industry

Upon graduation, you’ll be able to start as a certified apprentice carpenter. The program covers the fundamental aspects of building, such as site layout, foundations, framing, stairs, interior and exterior finishing, roofs and more. The focus is on pertinent, practical knowledge and skills that reflect the real world of on-site construction.

There is a great demand for apprentices to replace the population of older, retiring workers who are leaving the industry.

A diploma could lead to varied careers:

• interior systems

• millwork

• framing

• exterior finishing

• formwork

• deep foundations

“Returning to school after many years was probably one of my bestdecisions ever. I wanted to improve myself and my chances of getting abetter-paying job —one that I could be proud of. Carpentry constructionappealed to my need for being hands-on and getting involved, active. Desk jobs are not my thing. I enjoyed my 10 months at CVCEC where I metpeople that were like me. We were, after all, going into the same trade. I enjoyed working in teams. I also found a useful application for the maththat didn’t seem important in high school. The people I met and theknowledge I gained allowed me to get a better job and make my lifesignificantly better — more comfortable and more enjoyable.”

— Phillip McLeod

“I worked for many years and then decided to go back to school. It was agreat experience. I met many new people and made many new friends. I made many important contacts. The teachers were great, very helpful. It was one of the best life choices I’ve ever made.”

— David Courtois, graduate
