Carol began her passion of working with children while attending San Jose State University. Working in a store-front center and with the help of a dedicated like-minded group, she organized the Saturday Kids Club, volunteer tutoring program, Teenage Girls Club and seasonal camping for the non-profit para-church agency. Upon graduation with a Business Degree, she started working full-time with the agency, met and married her husband, Fred and became the proud mother of Joshua, Jonathon and Maria. After moving to Nevada County in 1996, she became a substitute teacher, database administrator, and an employment-training specialist. When she began working for the Grass Valley School District in 2005, she felt that she had come home to her first and favorite job-- working with children and their families. The Grass Valley School District provides before and after school and year-round programs through the After School Educational Safety (ASES) and General Childcare (CCTR) funding from California Department of Education. stepping stone and one who will understand and guide you in your quest to program excellence.

What is your proudest accomplishment in your career?

My proudest accomplishment is still in progress! I have enrolled at William Jessup University to obtain my Masters in Business Administration and will graduate on April 17, 2018. Obtaining an MBA at this point in my career models to those following that continuing education is a lifelong pursuit and brings with it many personal and professional rewards. Personal, as I have always wanted to obtain a Master’s Degree. Professional, as it supports the Grass Valley School District Child Development Program in being the highest quality and highest ranking for the QRIS Director requirements.
