EscapE to bEautiful cEntRal paRk!

As I sit here on a bench in Central Park, my mind begins to wander...

to the kind of place I visit when I'm out west hiking, listening to nature with no one else in sight but my family. It is certainly not the kind of image I get at 2:30 in the morning; when I can't sleep because I'm thinking about everything I should be doing.

I'm sitting in the midst of Carmel, Indiana, and not even a mile in every direction is a major road. But I can't hear the traffic, people chatting, or anyone texting or talking on their cell phones. Who would have thought you could get this feeling of tranquility here?

The eastside of Central Park is my new favorite park. Well, it's actually a toss-up between Founders Park and this one, but I truly love all that this park has to offer. The trails are absolutely beautiful and just long enough to find an escape, take a break from work, clear my head, and get my creative juices flowing again. On my walk over here, I was lucky enough to encounter a garden snake, feel beautiful butterflies float right by me, and even see a hawk in the rookery!

Along the trails, I not only experience that feeling of being alone in nature, I am able read the newly installed interpretive signs to learn about the significance of where I am standing today, what it looked like in the past, and how it may look in the future; something that is so important for us to pass on to the many generations visiting our parks.

Come let your mind wander and take a hike along the trails of Central Park. Learn about the history of Carmel, see wildlife, and relax as the soothing sounds of Carmel Creek carry you away.

faQs about pERsonal tRaining at thE mcc

how do I get started?Contact Lindsay Willard, Fitness Supervisor, at 317.573.5249 or [email protected]. If there is a certain trainer you’d like to work with, Lindsay can put you in touch with him or her. If you aren’t sure with whom you’d like to train, Lindsay can match you to the best trainer for your individual needs. Your first appointment will be one hour in length and must be paid for in advance.

Do I have to be a member of the Monon Community Center or a Carmel/Clay resident to do personal training? Not at all. No membership is required, and you do not have to live in Carmel or Clay Township to participate.

What will we do during our first appointment together?you will be asked to complete a health history form and you’ll discuss your goals, needs, and limitations with your trainer so that a safe, effective, client-specific program can be created for you. your trainer will perform an optional body assessment, and you will also be exercising. Please dress appropriately.

Lindsay Willard | Fitness Supervisor

I'm proud to work at a facility where the outdoors are as beautiful as the indoors! With the cooler temperatures of Autumn approaching, head outside to take a walk along the new Central Park East trails. Or come take an Outdoor Boot Camp class! The MCC is a perfect place to explore the great outdoors.

317.573.5249 [email protected]

How often should I plan to meet with a personal trainer? The answer to this is entirely up to you and what works best for you personally. Some guests meet with a trainer one time, simply to receive some guidance on a program they should follow. Some guests meet with a trainer once a month, once a week or even multiple times per week.

I’m in terrible shape and I’m a little intimidated by the thought of working with a trainer. Is personal training right for me?Our trainers have worked with people in all different stages of physical fitness. you’ll appreciate their patience and willingness to work with you, no matter how fit (or un-fit) you are! No question is a bad question, so come ready to work hard and learn a lot in the process.
