Kat Chatter will take a break and
return with the Spring Sports.
The Kokomo boys basketball team got off to a terrible start on Tuesday in the
opening round of sectional falling behind 10-0 in the first quarter to conference
opponent Harrison and were never able to get going. The Kats lost to Harrison
68-43 to finish the season 8-16.
The Kats were led by sophomore Bobby Wonnell scoring 12 points and
grabbing three rebounds. Junior R.J. Oglesby added 11 points and four
rebounds. Junior Jackson Richards added six points and eight rebounds.
The Kats coaching staff would like to that Wildkat Nation for their support
throughout the season. While we didn’t have the record we would have liked,
our fans have been fantastic all year long and the coaching staff and players
can’t thank you enough! We would also like to thank and wish the best of luck
to our two seniors: Savion Barrett and senior manager, Vicky Qiu.
As silly as it sounds to say after a season like this, I really feel like we are
close. As we continue to define what is really important on winning teams and
what isn’t, young guys and first year varsity players have had a chance to learn
through this season of adversity and become better players and teammates.
Building a culture of high expectations and work ethic is hard, and I look
forward to an offseason of hard work and improvement and getting Kokomo
Boys Basketball Program back to its rightful position as one of the state’s
premier programs!
Thanks again for all your support and Go Kats!
Coach Wonnell

to knock away an opponent’s field goal attempt.
