Carlo Seminara was born in Albertslund (Denmark) in october 4th, 1980. He was raised in Rosario (Argentina) since 1985. He studied, from 1997, african and latin percussion with many teachers, particullarly with Javier Mokdad and Miguel Tallo, both from Buenos Aires. He also studied in Montevideo, Uruguay with Nicolas Arnicho Perazza. He studied, also, the argentinien percussion with Juancho Perone. From 1998 to 2006 he studied the double bass and drummer careers in the School of
Music of the Nacional University at Rosario (UNR). His double bass teacher was Domingo Porta. He also learned in differents workshops with many teachers, for example: Milton Masciadri (USA, Italy), Sergio Rivas (Argentina), Carlos Weiske (Uruguay) and James Rapport (Austria). During 2003 he played the double bass in the Young Symphony Orchestra from the UNR.
In December 2002, he went to La Habana (Cuba), where he studied 5 months with some masters of Cuban music; particullarly with Justo Pelladito (Afroamérica group director, founder of the National Cuban Folk Group, CFNC, and the percussion career at the National Arts Institute of La Habana, ISA) and Paulo Antonio Urdaneta. He also has studied latin jazz with Andres “El Picaro” Aparicio (Robertico Carcasses, Interactivo) and with many teachers in the CNSEA (National Center of Artistic Teaching). He studied popular cuban piano with Emma Narilo.
In July 2008 he returned to La Habana and studied with the great legendary master José Luis “Changuito” Quintana, Songo’s creator and an ex member of Los VanVan.
From 2007 to 2009 He studied Brazilian percussion with the great Ramiro Musotto.
On June – August ’09 he make a tour on Denmark and Sweden, playing with his own project and like a sessionist / guest for some bands or soloists. This fact was the beginning of his participation in international percussion festivals and other kind of events. For example, he has played and teach in: V International Percussion Festival “PercuSonidos” (Tampico, Mexico – 2009), 3rd International Percussion Festival of “Cajón Peruano” (Lima, Perú – 2010), V International Percussion Festival (Santiago de Chile, Chile – 2010).
Presently Carlo is a teacher at a cultural center in Rosario; these kind of centers are focused on
children from marginal town ships.
Also he offers workshops of Argentinian, Cuban and Latin music in differents Argentinien cities and countries.
He has also studied different types of percussion, for example Arabic and Egyptian percussion with Luciano Bertoluzzi, and drumset with Adrian Carlesso.
Today Formations He is touring with his soloist project A Cada Santo una Vela (A Candle to Every Saint), recently
edited on CD, on Argentina and other countries (Mexico, Chile, Peru, Denmark, Sweden). He offers also some workshops about latin and afrolatin music.
From march 2008 he is the percussionist of the rock group Cielo Razzo. This is one of the most
popular new bands in Argentina and in the september 2008, offer a concert at Luna Park to almost 9000 people.
Practical experience He has played with some international artist like: Ramiro Musotto, Viviana Pozzebón, Adrián Abonizzio,
Charly García, León Gieco, Anibal Borzone, Anders Astrand (Sweden), Justo Pelladito (Cuba), Evaristo Aguilar (Mexico), Gabriel Amadeo Videla, Mikkel Schnettler (Denmark), Victor Hugo Diaz (Denmark), Marco Fadda (Italy), Diego Alvarez Muñoz (Venezuela), Rafael Santa Cruz (Peru), etc.
In 2005 he performed with Sebastian Mamet in the SABIAN Show Rosario ’05. Since 2004 he has played with the Victoria Consort Choir, directed by Eduardo Talledo, abording
antique and sefardi music. In 2006 he played with the Baroque Orchestra of Rosario. He has played in the opera “Un lugar para Francisco (A place for Francisco)” in the official presentation
in September 2006 for an audience of 3000 people. He was a founder and director of Ponle la Clave from 2001 to 2006. An afrocuban music group. This
group participated in the 2nd Mar del Plata Percussion Festival. He was a percussionist of Mr. Mojo from 2005 to 2008. This group plays in many cities of the country
and toured the USA and Colombia. They were invited by León Gieco to Record in the tribute to Andres Calamaro CD.
In 2005 he founded Tocolobombo Ensemble and performed his own musical piece for 15 percussionist in the anniversary of the “Jardin de los Niños” (Amusement Park).
He’s currently working in this project, with the intention of establishing a place to teach and practice with the community, specially the excluded people, and then make a group so the people can work with this.
