It is important to protect the natural beauty and lustre of the flooring. Preventative maintenance is key to maintaining the quality and extending the life of your laminate floor. Here are some tips from Experts in the flooring industry: How to care for your laminate floor: Clean and remove spills as soon as they happen. Excess water can damage the surface and seep into the seams of the flooring. Use a damp cloth to blot the spill, then dry the surface thoroughly. Sweep dust or vacuum your laminate floors on a regular basis (at least once or twice a week). Use a broom with soft bristles and/or vacuum with the hard floor attachment only. By following a regular routine, you will remove tough spots and dirt and grit which may cause scratches or stains. If you have a major event (birthday parties, family gatherings), be sure you clean your floor before and after. Your laminate flooring should be cleaned periodically with a professional laminate floor cleaning product recommended by the industry (gentle, non-abrasive). What not to use on your laminate floor: Do not use wet sprays, micro fibre mop or a regular mop mixed with oil-soap detergent, water or any other cleaning materials to wash your floors. This may cause delamination, swelling or warping and may void the warranty. • Do not use a buffing machine of any kind. Maintaining your laminate floor: Preferable unit temperature should be approximately 17-23° C (62-73° F), with a relative humidity of 45-60%. Humidity should never be allowed to drop below 30% as this may cause gapping. Use rugs and carpet runners in high traffic areas (entranceway, halls, especially those leading to kitchens and bathrooms). It’s important to clean and vacuum rugs thoroughly to keep dirt from filtering down and scratching the laminate underneath. • Keep your pet’s nails trimmed to avoid scratching. Attach felt pads to the bottom of all furniture or use only soft rubber casters to protect against scrapes and scratches. Following these simple guidelines will help to keep your flooring looking like new. It doesn’t take a huge amount of money, just a bit of effort.
