The mass of programs we have here at times can be daunting, though with the help of my team I am starting to get the hang of it. I work closely with each member of the office in order to correctly pass the right individuals on to them. In my time here I have seen many demographics walk through the door, each with their own story of barriers and hardship. Each person has a set of barriers that keep them from achieving their goals, our job is to work around/eliminate those barriers from the person’s employment journey. People of all ages and background come into the CRC looking for employment. However, I have noticed a lack in a certain age group. I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and know how scary it can be when you are thrusted into the adult world after graduation. That being said, I was surprised, as a young adult myself, to see such a lack of college students utilizing our resources. Our office is dedicated to helping every person gain employment despite their background and degree. We have the means to help not only college graduates find employment, but current students as well. I know that many adults my age are looking for summer employment between semesters or interested in gaining an internship within a company. I also know, as a CRC specialist, that we host both internships and seasonal jobs on our website. In addition, we have the ability to promote our clients to employers to give an extra edge in the application process. The PA CareerLink acts as a valuable tool for anyone looking for employment and as a recent graduate I wish to extend the offer to both students and graduates to come on in and research your employment options. that walks into the PA CareerLink with the best program to fill their

employment needs. The mass of programs we have here at times can be

daunting, though with the help of my team I am starting to get the hang of it.

I work closely with each member of the office in order to correctly pass the

right individuals on to them. In my time here I have seen many

demographics walk through the door, each with their own story of barriers

and hardship. Each person has a set of barriers that keep them from

achieving their goals, our job is to work around/eliminate those barriers from

the person’s employment journey.

People of all ages and background come into the CRC looking for

employment. However, I have noticed a lack in a certain age group. I am a

recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and know how scary it can

be when you are thrusted into the adult world after graduation. That being

said, I was surprised, as a young adult myself, to see such a lack of college

students utilizing our resources. Our office is dedicated to helping every

person gain employment despite their background and degree. We have

the means to help not only college graduates find employment, but current

students as well. I know that many adults my age are looking for summer

employment between semesters or interested in gaining an internship within

a company. I also know, as a CRC specialist, that we host both internships

and seasonal jobs on our website. In addition, we have the ability to

promote our clients to employers to give an extra edge in the application

process.

The PA CareerLink acts as a valuable tool for anyone looking for

employment and as a recent graduate I wish to extend the offer to both

students and graduates to come on in and research your employment

options. We are here to help and value your time committed to searching for

employment.

PA CareerLink® Westmoreland County at Youngwood 151 Pavilion Ln, Youngwood, PA 15697 (724) 755-2330

A veteran came into the PACL looking for employment and/or training

services. He was having a difficult time because his machinist skills are out-of-date making it

harder to get a job for the manufacturing technology local employers are now using. An

Account Representative and our Local Veteran Employer Representative made contact with

this Veteran to assess his skills and interest for possible referral to an employer to hire him

under our On-the-Job Training Program.

Employer J.F. Burns and Company stepped up to the table again and hired this Veteran as a

Machine Operator with an above average sustainable wage for the area. Due to the Veteran’s

reduced experience with the technology this particular machine shop uses, a six month OJT

contract was approved by the Workforce Development Board to assist in off-setting the cost of

this company training him. The company was able to save over $8k in training costs while also

employing a dedicated, hard-working veteran.

Many thanks to J. F. Burns for hiring and training our Veterans and to the teamwork of the PA

CareerLink Staff for helping to make this happen.
