Transcript of Cardinal Times November 2016€¦ · “My favorite candies are Crunch and Butterfingers!”...
This October,
upper elementary
teacher, Frankie
Ersfeld, got a new
lizard and brought
it to school. It is a
baby uromastyx
that is around six
month old. Since
Frankie brought it to school, the 305 students have been
making observations on the lizard's behavior and
everyday life. We are not completely sure on the lizard’s
gender, but it is believed to be a boy. The uromastyx
name is Drogon or Drogo. One of the 305 students
quoted, “the uromastyx likes to dance, usually around
lunch time”. This young lizard, having lots of energy, has
been interesting to watch play, eat and sleep.

Halloween, that wonderful time of year where kids in the neighborhood
dress-up and go door to door and ask for free candy. Even though we aren’t
having the Halloween parade this year, there are so many different ideas for
costumes. There are scary, character, object, and animal costumes. Here are
some examples of the three costume categories:
A Ghost- Avery S.
A Zombie- Merritt W.
Glow in the Dark Reaper- Nate B.
Cat Witch- Catherine H.
The Mad Hatter- Massimo C.
Hermione- Brighid P.
Artemis- Charlotte N.
Jack (From The Nightmare Before Christmas)- Leah F.
Luna Lovegood- Kate L.
A Savage Wolf- Charlotte B.
A Spider Web- Amelia N.
A Cat Without a Tail- Summer K.
Here are a few quotes about Halloween by some of the students:
“Halloween is a fun time to hang out with friends and eat candy!” - Catherine H.
“My favorite candies are Crunch and Butterfingers!” -Merritt W.
“I liked Halloween a lot and last year I didn’t go trick-or-treating.” -Brighid P.
“My favorite thing about Halloween is the candy.” - Charlotte B.
“My favorite things about Halloween are staying up late and costumes.” Nate B.
Be safe and we hope you had a happy Halloween!!

Pizza Lunch Upper El has pizza lunch once a month and we are going to give you a “behind the scenes look”
at what we do to prepare for pizza lunch.
First we get orders for pizza lunch and you have a week to put in an order. To students Then on
Thursday we count up how many pizzas and how many slices we need. (There are 8 slices in a
pizza) Then we pick people to go to the each classroom to deliver pizza. (about 3 people to a
class. That's how we prepare for pizza lunch.
Here is an example of how we would count the amount of slices and pizzas. How many slices
and pizzas are needed?
