Storybird is an online, interactive storybook maker. It allows students of any age to create books using artistic themes and text of their own making. Teachers can have students create their own independent storybooks OR they can create a class assignment in which students collaboratively build stories using image prompts. While originally intended for elementary students, this is a great resource for secondary subjects as well.

Do you use Google Forms for multiple choice assessments? If so, install Flubaroo to make self-grading quizzes! Flubaroo is an extension or script that you can install into your Google Docs account. After installing, creating a Google Form as usual. Take the quiz with the correct answers, then run Flubaroo to select it as the Answer Key. You can exclude non-graded items like Name and ID Number. When students take the quiz, run Flubaroo again to automatically grade the quiz and receive scores for each student. Flubaroo also provides reports on missed items for re-teaching.

Visual Thesaurus is a vocabulary tool that can be used to instantly generate a wordmap of a word and its synonyms. Also includes a word of the day. (While it is a subscription-based service, you can search one word at a time or start a 14-day trial.) Your wordmap can be resorted by clicking on a word. Each word can be spoken or pronounced using the speaker to the right of the word. Words are categorized by parts of speech and definitions appear when hovering. Word lists can be created and pre-made word lists are available.
