Carbon Monoxide Regulations

In England and Wales, the Building Regulations Approved Document J, 2015 edition, calls for carbon monoxide alarms to be provided in rooms where a solid fuel appliance is installed, whether it is a new or replacement appliance being installed (clause 2.34). It is also highlighted that carbon monoxide alarms can reduce the risk of poisoning from other types of appliances such as gas burners. Where properties have flues that are concealed and in voids, inspection hatches need to be fitted, but until this happens CO alarms should be installed in the interim (TB008 Edition 2).

In Scotland, the Building Standards Technical Handbook 2019: Domestic Buildings requires carbon monoxide alarms to be fitted in any room where a new or replacement fixed combustion appliance is installed (excluding an appliance used solely for cooking) and in any room that has a flue running through it (clause 3.20.20). New fire safety legislation requires all dwellings to be fitted with carbon monoxide detection by February 2021.

Optical Smoke AlarmCatalogue Code: 1163Optical Smoke Alarms are recommended by British Standard 5839-6 for circulation areas.

Deta’s Optical Smoke Alarms incorporate the latest optical sensing technology, which is more sensitive at detecting large particles of smoke which tend to be produced in greater amounts by slow smouldering fires.

Suitable for use within hallways and landings, as well as living rooms and bedrooms.

Heat AlarmCatalogue Code: 1165

Carbon Monoxide (CO) AlarmCatalogue Code: 1169

Heat Alarms form an integral part of any domestic fire protection system, with all Building Regulations recommending Heat Detectors within areas where dust and fumes may trigger nuisance alarms.

Deta’s Heat Alarms use thermistor sensing technology, are approved to class A2, and are activated when the temperature reaches a pre-set range of 54˚C to 70˚C.

Suitable for use in kitchens, attics and garages.
