Dear Parents/Caregivers, I would like to point out to our community some Safety Reminders to support student safety including:

• Parents and students are under NO circumstances permitted to enter the staff carpark in a car or as a pedestrian

• Follow the School Zone speed limits • Parking at the front and around the school must be done within legal guidelines and

parents are asked to take note of the signs that indicate where to park and/or stop. Please take note of signs including: NO Stopping, NO Parking, Bus Zone

• Do not stop in driveways to drop off or pick up students • All children regardless of being with an adult should always use the crossing: stopping at

the crossing and waiting for the cars to stop before walking across • Students are reminded to walk safely to and from school including: walking and keeping on

the footpath, not playing while walking, crossing at the lights of the Horsley Drive by waiting for the green walk signal and waiting for the cars to completely stop before stepping off the footpath

• Any student wishing to ride their bike to school must complete a permission form and a safety-approved helmet must be worn. No scooters, skateboards or roller blades are permitted

• Students should be at school no earlier than 8:30am when a teacher is on duty in the COLA. Parents who pick-up their child after school, must do so at 3pm. If a parent is running late they must call and advise the office before 3pm

• All parents/visitors to the school during school hours must report to the office to sign in and out

Your attention and cooperation with these requests is appreciated as it will support student safety.

I would like to thank the parents who completed the Jacket Uniform Survey: the post popular option to date is the $50 jacket with the red trim. The SRC also voted and the red trim optioned jacket is also the most popular option. If you are yet to vote please do so by the end of this week. Voting forms are available at the office if you have lost the one sent home. We will start the 2020 school year with our new uniform which includes the new school polo shirt and sport shirt for students in years 3-6. To support our families with meeting the cost of the new uniform, every child will be given one new school polo shirt and one new sport shirt (for students in years 3-6) for free.

Our new LED School sign at the front of the school will be up and running this week. We have also had a new LED Screen installed in the COLA. Both these signs will enable us to communicate to our parents and students with important reminders as well as share student achievements. Keep an eye out for the messages and pictures.

Going to school is important. It makes learning easier for your child and helps build and maintain friendships with other children.

• Keep your child home only when they are sick • Advise the school of any absence • See doctors and dentists after school times

Helping your child have a happy day at school is important for you and your child. If you are having difficulties in getting your child to school you should contact the school as soon as possible to discuss the problem and ask for help. Our Home School Liaison Officer is monitoring attendance of all children at Carramar Public School .

From the Office

Kindergarten Orientation commences next week and we are looking forward to meeting the 2020 Kindergarten children and their families. Many of the children already have siblings attending our school but it is very important both parents and children attend the Orientation sessions. If you, or anyone you know, have not started the enrolment process for a child turning 5 on or before 31 July 2020, it is extremely important that you call at the office to discuss the enrolment with administration staff.

Planning for 2020 is well under way and it is important we have a good idea of our anticipated enrolments. If your child will not be attending CPS next year (perhaps you are moving house etc) or if you are planning an extended holiday at the beginning of the year and your child will not return on Day 1 next year, please let the school know as soon as possible. There is a form in this newsletter you can complete and return to the admin staff or please call in and talk to us so we can assist in completion of any necessary documents.
