Winter is over!March has arrived and sothe grim winter weathermoves on into gloriousspring.

Injuries are healing andavailability is improvingleading to real competitionfor places amongst thesenior teams.

With everyone now havingpaid or come to anarrangement regardingtheir membership subs, selection will now be veryseriously taking intoaccount attendance attraining and speed of response to requests foravailability.

Basically, if you want to getselected then get to

training and let Grant/Andyknow your availability asap!

Continuing Cups The last weekend of Febsaw both the Colts and theFirsts in cup action andwhilst the Colts cameunstuck againstWyveliscombe in a gamethey could have won, theFirsts powered past Chinnor

2nds to book a semi-finalgame against Witney.

This now gives us a realchance to get to theOxfordshire final and sendout a message aboutBRUFC.

The plot thickens regardingthe proposed trip toBrighton. It now seems thatHove were so worried aboutthe challenge Banbury willput forward that they felt itnecessary to organise awhole tournament to givethem a chance of winning

at least one game!

The six-team tournament isin aid of a local charity andwill be played in a ‘social’atmosphere (so expect lotsof drinking fines for on-pitcherrors).

Once again the dates are Friday 24th to Sunday26th April.

Overnight stay costs arestill being sorted but aninitial (and possibly final)deposit of £50 is nowrequired from all those

Captain’s TableA snow-affected Captain’s

Table saw Player of theMonth awarded to son of Fitness Meister and all-round tight-5 legend-in-the-making Nick Pratt.

He celebrated his award forhis consistency inperformance andcommitment to playing andtraining by having his haircut off. Hopefully it won’thave a Samson effect andsee him loose all his

strength (but it might makehim easier to lift in the line-out).

Social notesFollowing on from the dirge-fest that was England vIreland, the Wii Sportsextravaganza was an

entertaining, booze-interrupted evening whichsaw the youthful U14s sidewalk away as victors.

The sight of the eveningthough must surely be theRoger Federer-like actionsof Barry Nichols showing

his skills at Wii tennis!
