Honoring Captain Joseph William Schultz
• Captain Joseph Schultz and two other soldiers in his unit were killed by an IED while on active duty in Wardak Province, Afghanistan on Memorial Day weekend, May 29, 2011.
• Joseph was a Green Beret serving as Detachment Commander of Special Forces Operational Detachment – Alpha 3333.
• Joseph’s commitment to serving his country was strong. September 11, 2001, was a turning point in his life. He believed in America and the integrity of our people. He responded, as did many men and women, to a call to arms.
• He was very clear about the sacrifice he might be making to protect the freedoms we have.
• Captain Schultz was commended for his belief and practice of “leading from the front.”
