December 2014 – April 2015
The site before the start of the project The site was an automotive showroom but had sat derelict for a number of years until it was acquired by The Lind Group.
November/December 2014Site set-up started in November, with works beginning in the first week of December. CAPS Group started demolishing the old structures and preparing the site for the build.
16th December 2014The groundwork started on site in the middle of December. At the same time work started on the existing warehouse building which was to be retained and repurposed as a dedicated service area for customers’ motorcycles.
23rd December 2014By the end of December the groundworks are still ongoing, meanwhile the inside of the existing warehouse starts to take its new shape with the structure of new internal walls being built.
7th January 2015In the New Year we were back on site. The site was nearly clear of all old structures and rubble and getting ready for the construction of the new part of the build, which would become the showroom.
15th January 2015By the middle of January things are really starting to take shape in the warehouse, with the motorbike service area being created – the picture below shows the bike service bays being formed. Outside the foundations are being made ready for the construction of the new showroom.
23rdJanuary 2015The area where the new showroom will sit is prepped and ready for the concrete to be poured. Inside, the service area continues to progress ready for the mechanical fixtures to arrive in a couple of weeks.
28thJanuary 2015The showroom takes shapeAt the end of January the steel structure for the new showroom is being built. Inside the old warehouse, new internal walls are still being constructed and the plasterboard is being put into place.
9thFebruary 2015The steel structure for the new showroom is nearly complete and the area where the two buildings will meet can be clearly seen. This conjoining area will later take shape as the space that links the showroom and the service area.
19thFebruary 2015With the roof of the new showroom in place the construction of internal walls and features can start. In the warehouse, the service area is painted and fully prepped ready for the mechanical elements to arrive and be fitted – our specialist CAPS Workshops team managed this particular element of the project.
13thMarch 2015By the middle of March the new showroom is wind and water tight with windows and doors fitted. The whole conjoined structure receives a lick of paint in Harley black. The various fixtures and fittings for the showroom, manufactured in our company-owned factory in Poland, have arrived and are waiting to be fitted into place. In the service area the bike lifts have arrived and have been fitted.
27thMarch 2015
At the end of March the inside of the new showroom is really starting to take shape. The bespoke fixtures and fittings are being assembled and the lighting throughout the showroom is up and ready.
The customer lounge is being created as well as the office and staff area in the original warehouse.
Outside the road leading to the dealership is being tarmacked and the paving laid out.
The finishing touches are taking place, including a full site deep clean, ensuring everything is perfect, ready for the site handover at the beginning of April.
13thApril 2015The site opened officially after 20 weeks work.
