The Gold Founder membership of the Capital Club has been fully subscribed, marking the completion of the first round of Membership invitations to the Club. This is a major milestone for every new Club. Without Members there is no Club. Without the right members, a business Club has a limited purpose.
To date, the Capital Club has almost 270 Members. In terms of ethnicity – we have about 52% African members, 40% Asian Members and 8% Caucasian and International Members.
The age profile reflects the dynamism of a young country: 30% of members are in their 30s, 30% in their 40s, 30% in their 50s and 10%
either in their 60s or late 20s. In terms of gender – we have 30% lady members including registered spouse members. Ladies in business are joining the Club in quite large numbers.
In terms of seniority – the Club has 56 % CEOs, MDs and Senior Partners, 9% Presidents and Chairmen, 22% Directors or Partners or Regional Partners and 13% CFOs, COOs and other Senior Dept. Heads.
Members have already joined from Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Mauritius, UK and the UAE. The Capital Club membership roster represents leadership, power, balance, diversity and quality. Firm foundations are laid for a strong, lively and well-balanced Club.

Welcome To Capital LifeWelcome to the first edition of Capital Life. I wish all Members a good start to the New Year. It has been a busy period since the formation of the Board of Governors in 2011, the appointment of the Club team and the celebration of our biggest milestone yet – our first 250 Gold Founder Members. The Membership Committee have played a great part and deserve our thanks and applause!
We have also enjoyed some excellent events over the past months, as you will see from photographs in this newsletter. The Entertainment & Events Committee has been vibrant and creative, giving Club members an opportunity to attend some well-themed and well-attended events.
We have made good progress with interior design of the Club premises and work is on schedule to be completed by mid 2013.
Members are encouraged to continue to contribute to the growing membership; after all a club is made up of its members and one of the primary benefits of joining Capital Club is the numerous opportunities to meet and network with people of all business sectors and communities. While these opportunities do much to improve business connections, it also enables members to enjoy the camaraderie of new friends as well as old friends.
The main message we would like to send will be familiar to many of you – “It is your Club, and it is vital that all members participate in its growth and make use of it”. So please attend the events, propose members and start to enjoy your reciprocal Clubs when you travel!

Governors have an important mission. They:1. Express the quality, balance and diversity of
membership.2. Ensure the Club directors and management
are well advised.3. Provide feedback to Club management in a
constructive way.4. Have the privilege and responsibility of -
inviting the first founder members.5. Meet about once a quarter. It is often said the Governors are “like family” or Godparents. “Good news or bad news, the Governors and shareholders know first.”

Last year, the Capital Club East Africa was born, following in the footsteps of other Capital Clubs and top business Clubs in global cities. I am confident that Capital Club (East Africa) will live up to the legacy of its partner establishments and will over time grow to become a force in the global exclusive membership clubs scene.
I am delighted to inform you that the Club membership has already grown substantially, and can therefore only get better in 2013. I believe the Club has a genuine value to Members and provides a wonderful platform for business networking, idea-exchange and leisure.
In 2013 we will get to meet and listen to interesting and relevant speakers, discuss topics of concern to us and to East Africa as a whole. I would also suggest that you gear up for fun, as the Events committee is already working on a calendar of events that is sure to make you all mark your calendars in anticipation of these events.
On behalf of the Committee I would like to thank you all for your support, and we look forward to welcoming more new members to the Capital Club family! Here’s to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.
Ambassador Dennis Awori
Dear Members,A warm thank you to those of you who were able to attend our last First Thursday event at Sankara hotel. We had over 100 members represented. For members who were unable to make it we look forward to seeing you at the next event especially because the First Thursdays events are shaping out to be a great opportunity to network and meet other current and potential members.
We would also like to take this time to highlight to our members who travel often that you can access many of our associate clubs internationally as you travel. For example, some of our members have taken advantage of this offer by visiting sister clubs in New Delhi, London, Dubai, during the past few months. To take advantage of this service simply contact your Membership Manager and we will take care of the rest. This benefit allows members travelling for business to meet with clients privately and escape away from hotel lobbies and restaurants.
Further, and in an effort to ensure that we are listening to and catering to our clients, your Membership Manager will be visiting you soon to complete your enrollment process and also solicit ideas from you on specific things you expect from the Club this year. Our goal is to ensure that we are providing the best service to our members and that you continue to find value in the club. Also, thank you for those who have recommended members and continue to do so. We appreciate the fact that you have shared your rolodex with us and we pledge to honor that trust by ensuring that our selection criteria continue to be of high regard and that we screen and continue to attract like-minded members to the Club.
Their role is to represent the Board of Governors and provide guidance to the Club’s Management and Directors to ensure the principle of Membership by Invitation and acceptance of high quality Members is upheld.

I am fortunate to chair a strong committee and to have the task of working on events that meet members needs. Our task is to help the Club stage a balanced programme which will keep most of you our Members happy, most of the time. Mission Impossible? I hope not!
We meet once a month and we welcome member ideas for events, for entertainment and for sponsorship. The E&E Committee look forward to seeing you at our upcoming event!
