The Cape Fear Literacy Council (CFLC) is a non-profit organization that pro-vides English literacy skills to adults in the surrounding area.

Our Mission: To provide individualized literacy ser-vices for adults in the Cape Fear area so they are able to meet their goals and develop their potential.

8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. •Friday

Refer Someone Why you should refer someone: The National Adult Literacy Survey found that 24% of adults in the Cape Fear region are at the lowest literacy level: below the 5th grade. About 1 in 4 people struggle to perform the basic lit-eracy skills they need in order to survive and provide for their families.

What CFLC does: CFLC provides free and confidential services to adults by offering one-on-one tutoring sessions, small classes and computer learning lab sessions. CFLC helps students with : •Math •Writing •Reading •Spelling •Language Skills •Life Skills

The process of becoming a student:1. Call 251-0911 for an appointment.2. Let CFLC evaluate your skills.3. Meet with a tutor.4. Set your literacy skill goals.

Become a Tutor

Why CFLC needs your help: CFLC depends on volunteers to tutor adults in the community. Tutors directly teach and support adult learners who are working to improve their life and literacy skills. Make your community a better place: become a tutor!

The process of becoming a tutor: 1. Call 251- 0911. 2. Attend “CFLC 101” orientation. 3. Get certification. 4. CFLC gives you a student. 5. Receive learning materials. 6. Meet your student. 7. Continue tutor sessions. 8. Change a life!

Support CFLC How you can help CFLC: Don’t have time to become a tutor? Don’t worry. You can still help CFLC by: •Attending events •Providing in-kind donations •Providing monetary support •Helping distribute CFLC material
