Population: 234,000,000 (July 2007 est.)
Problem: Disparity in quality of higher education institutions in
Indonesia ( ~ 2800 universities, 155,000 faculty, 4.3 million students)
Very low research productivity: Only 10 % (out of 155,000), mostly conducted in a few
best universities (UI, ITB, UGM, IPB)
