Formerly Boral Formwork & Scaffolding, in 2010 the organisation was rebranded back to its former name, Acrow. The name Acrow has been active in the Australian construction industry since 1950 and its heritage dates back to 1936, when the company was first launched in the United Kingdom.

The decision to reinstate the Acrow brand reflects our organisation’s decision to realign Acrow with our historic strengths of innovative design and outstanding service to provide safe and labour-efficient solutions, delivered on time.

About Acrow

Safety is paramount to Acrow, particularly due to the high consequence nature of incidents that can occur when working at heights.

Acrow have a multi-tiered process in place to ensure that all our employees and subcontractors are trained in, and follow industry leading safe work practices and that our equipment and structure designs allow for the safest environment practicable.

Acrow’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management System comprises information that sets the framework for how Acrow manages its EHS issues. Documentation comprises Strategic EHS plans and an EHS Manual that includes procedures and guidance for sites in planning for and improving EHS performance. Each document in the manual has been prepared in accordance with relevant Acts, regulations, codes of practice and Australian Standards (where appropriate). References to these are included in the various documents.

These documents form the basis for a site-based EHS Management System that will be established for every project undertaken by Acrow. Site EHS documentation will be stored both as paper-based files on site and also electronically on Acrow’s secure intranet site accessible by all Acrow employees.

Acrow also places a strong emphasis on incident reporting. Our objective is to continually identify hazards and eliminate or control them. We often do this in conjunction with our customers, using our expertise to act as the working at heights safety experts onsite.

Site Documentation and ProcessesSite documentation is typically comprised of:

n Site EHS Management Plan including Safe Work Methods, Risk Management and Emergency Response.

n Contractor Safety and qualification records.

n Toolbox Meetings and regular structured communication sessions to raise risks and pass on control measures.

Behavioural Safety and Injury Prevention

‘Safety Conversations’ is Acrow’s program of regular, planned one-on-one conversations between managers/team leaders and employee/contractor about safety aspects of the employee’s/contractor’s job. These conversations occur in the workplace while the employee/contractor takes a short break from performing his/her work tasks. The program has several objectives:

n Provide positive feedback to employee/contractor on safe behaviour.

n Discuss remedies for potential “at risk” behaviour.

n Improve work practices so that potential incidences can be avoided.

n Collect data on safe and at-risk behaviour and related issues in the workplace.

LD With over 60 years experience in Australian markets, Acrow has gathered some of the best scaffold and formwork specialists in the business. In doing so, we have been present and have delivered on many of Australia’s largest projects.

Our team is led by safety, engineering and project management professionals with up to 30 years experience. Our company and Management is represented on many industry panels and have been instrumental in setting Standards – including the current scaffolding Code of Practice 2009.

Our scaffolders are highly trained and many have spent their entire careers in the formwork and scaffolding sectors.

We have developed detailed project management and labour supervision processes that have been tried and tested with many of the leading construction companies in Australia. Local knowledge. National network.Acrow operates in nine locations across Australia servicing the formwork, scaffold and industrial and mining sectors.

Our branch network is made up of eight scaffolding branches and four dedicated formwork branches, included of which are four dual formwork and scaffolding hybrid branches.

All Acrow Branch Managers have at least 10 years background in formwork and scaffolding. Our team consists of over 500 scaffolders, 50+ project managers as well as approximately 20 national support resources.

Acrow looks to employ local people in each of our branches to support local communities. Our People

Acrow offers a one-stop shop for all formwork and scaffolding needs of the construction and maintenance sectors. We maintain one of the largest stocks of scaffold and formwork materials in Australia, all complying with AS/NZS 1576 & 3610 and ISO 9001-2000. Our material is manufactured from stringently specified steels sourced locally and from overseas.

Note: Our subcontractors do not pyramid contract and all maintain EBA’s compliant with the Fair Work Australia Act.

Our in-house quality management system and processes are managed by very experienced and knowledgeable engineers and technical staff. They ensure all our products are manufactured to our own design and specifications, which are rigorously checked through the production phase and at completion, for compliance with our requirements.

Acrow is very specific and stringent in the selection of its suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that our products are consistently manufactured to the high quality, reliability and standards for which Acrow is renowned.

Acrow Engineering have developed a comprehensive inspection, repair and manufacture manual based on AS/NZS ISO 9001-2000 standards, detailing the specific features of each of our products and how to inspect and maintain them.

Each product is individually inspected upon return to the yard after every project, with damaged and non- conforming products isolated for repair or scrapping.

Repairs and maintenance are only carried out in specific locations where staff have been trained in our Inspection and Maintenance procedures, and have been provided with all the equipment required to complete quality repairs.

Our scaffolders also re-inspect every product before it is installed on site with damaged and non-conforming products isolated and returned to Acrow immediately.

All Acrow products supplied by our organisation, are in general, supported by approval or design registration by various statutory bodies and/or comply with Australian Standards as appropriate eg: AS1576 (Scaffolding) and AS 3610 (Formwork).

Our senior engineering managers are active members of relevant Australian Standard committees, proactively raising the design and safety standards across the industry.
