SPRING CARNIVAL
This year the Canyon View FFO has reluctantly decided against sponsoring our SpringCarnival & Silent Auction. It was a difficult decision to make for two reasons: 1) this is an
important tradition for our Canyon View students and 2) our volunteers had invested many
precious hours planning it. Two weeks ago we received a notice from CFSD that effective
immediately inflatable rides are no longer allowed at school events for safety reasons. This
year's Carnival was going to feature primarily inflatable rides since they are, by far, the
most popular attractions at our carnival. With this new policy, we need time to redesign our
annual Carnival to plan an event that is both safe and fun. There are many exciting possi-
bilities to explore. If you would like to be part of next year's Carnival planning committee,
please contact Laura Baragar at [email protected] and Jean Popham at
[email protected]. Look for a brand-new Canyon View Carnival and Silent Auction
next year!
Cheers,
Julie

Caught Ya Showing Good Character
We caught 3rd Grade - Which grade level is next?
Nathan: What do you do to show good character?1: I help my friends who are hurt and take them to the nurse.2: Whenever people talk when they're not suppose to, I tell them to stop and when I play games I include everybody.3: I try to make sure that other people are supposed to do what they're doing.
Sean: How do you think the Six Pillars of Character help the school?1: I think they help the kids understand how they should act at school.2: Otherwise people will get hurt and will not have any friends.3: I think they help make it a better place for kids and a safer place.
Nathan: What have you done to help a kid and show good character?1: If they they dont understand what we're doing in class, I help them understand.
2: When they ask me to play and I dont want to play, I play with them because they are lonely.3: I have tried to help people and when Im playing a game with people, I follow the rules and make it more fun.
Sean: What do you think the effect of having good character has on the school?1: I think it like helps the kids understand the kids feelings more and like each other.2: Because people work together and learn more.3: Itll make people more mature and have a good job when they grow up.
Nathan: Why do you think parents will want to send their kids here?1: So that they can learn about things and make new friends.2: Well, because people are nice to each other and teachers take time to teach us the Pillars.
3: They might send kids here because it is a good place for kids to learn and the kids are really nice here.
Sean: How does it feel to be nice to someone else?1: I think it feels good because youre helping people feel good.2: It feels good because they look happy when you do it.
3: It feels good and I feel really helpful when I do it.
Thats 3rd grade! Three students who show good character all the time. The 4th Grade News Crew are always on the
ookout for students who show good character at Canyon View. Stay tuned for more Caught Ya Showing Good Cha

a students safety and success during
PE classes. Shoes like boots, san-
dals, slip-ons, even dress shoes canget in the way during simple activities
like running, tag games, or
stations. It is important for students
to wear proper footwear (i.e. running

Students are graded on participation
