Prez's Message

This month we are graduating 6 wonderful, enthusiastic class members who will be joining the Club. Thank you, Angels, for everything you did to welcome them, help them, and show them how much fun square dancing is.

Now, it’s time to think about September and our next class. We need another good class if the Twirlers are to survive and grow. To get a good class, we need everyone’s help. We will advertise like we did last year—not only in Lake Elsinore and points south, but in Menifee and Hemet. We will have flyers and our little business cards and we will use some social media and the newspapers. But, we’ve found the best way to attract people to class is by word of mouth—so, talk to your friends, and talk to people you see as you are out around town. Spread the word—Square dancing is fun! We are starting a class in September! Come join us!

Say a prayer for our friends that have not been well lately, give them a

call, send a card or email to let them know you care.

Twirlers were saddened to hear of the death of our long time Club member and dancing friend, Frank Bezzina. Frank passed away on May 17th of lung cancer. A rosary will be held for him at noon (12:00 pm) on Saturday, June 13th, in the Clubhouse at the Sun Meadows Mobile Home Park in Sun City where Frank and his wife Linda lived.

You can get directions to the Mobile Home Park if you use Google Maps. There is a big sign in front. The Clubhouse is the big building right in front of you as you drive into the park. Please keep Vi Henderson and Karin Sanchez in your thoughts & prayers. Both ladies will be undergoing back surgery in the coming weeks. We hope all goes well and they will each have a speedy and effortless recovery. The next “Meet for Dinner at the Lodge" is on Wednesday, June 10th. Meet at the Lodge at 5:00 to join other Club &

Class members for some good Food, Friendship & Fun. Entrees on the menu range from $8.00 - $15.00.

HELPERS ARE NEEDED for the Experienced Clothing Sale. This is an important fundraiser for the Club. Phyllis Hart and the twins, Reagan and Riley are organizing it. So far Olivia Gomez, Anita Pederson, Rebecca McGovern and Jackie Brown have volunteered to help them. We will be organizing the clothes on Saturday, June 13th on the stage in the Lodge from 9:00 to 11:15 and we will be setting the clothes out on Sunday morning before the dance and selling them during the dance. They will need help on Saturday and Sunday. If you can help either day, let Phyllis (951)490-6125 or Jackie (951) 694-3650 know.

OUT VISITING IN MAY We had a whole square of Twirlers go out to the Rancho Cucamonga B ‘n’ Bs’

Anniversary dance including several of our class members. Enjoying the calling of our own Vic Kaaria were Rick Jones, Randy & Sue Gibson, Rebecca & Ceallach McGovern, Jackie & Bill Brown and Susie King.

Our scatter visitation took Bob & Carole Stoops and Bill & Jackie Brown to Whirlaways’ “Mickey & Minnie” dance. Jay Henderson was calling and there was a surprise visit by Mickey and Minnie themselves.

Then, we had a great turn out for the 4th Sunday Class Dance at Cowtown. Jerry & Joy Samaras, Carol & Al Pitchard, Earlean Wagner, Rick Jones, Rebecca & Ceallach McGovern, Carole & Bob Stoops, Fred & Lisa Bates, and Jackie & Bill Brown all agreed that Steve Woodard called a fun dance.

VISITATION POT At our May dance, Barbara Canfield’s name was drawn for the visitation pot but unfortunately she

did not qualify to win. The pot now is up to $15.

Remember, to win the visitation pot you must have attended at least one visitation the previous month and be at the dance when the drawing is held. The more visitations you attend, the better your chances of winning!

Beginning June 17th, we will only be having Workshops. They will be held at the usual place in the Lodge from 7:00 to 9:00. Vic will be calling and like last year, we will be charging everyone $4.00. This is the time to relax, have fun, and dance!

Workshops will continue through August 5th and then we will go dark the last three weeks in August after our Club dance. We will try to plan visits to workshops being held by other Clubs on Wednesday. Our Workshops will resume September 2nd as we prepare for our new class which will begin September 16th.

BOARD ELECTIONS & VOLUNTEERS I would like to thank everyone who responded to our call for volunteers for the 2015-2016 Twirler Board. We have only a couple of positions that are still vacant. Even if you aren’t dancing, you can stay active and help the Board. Let a Board member know you are interested in helping and we’ll find you a job.

As part of our bylaws, after our June dance, Club members are asked to stay for a short General Meeting. One of the things on the Agenda will be the vote for the 2015-2016 Twirler Board. We hope to see you there, but if you are unable to attend, please email or send your proxy to Jackie or Bill Brown or Randy or Sue Gibson.

PLEASE STAY AFTER THE DANCE FOR A SHORT & IMPORTANT

MEETING Club members who attend the June dance will be asked to vote for the 2015 -16 Twirler Board of Directors. The members of the Board work together to keep the Club going which means working with the Canyon Lake POA to make sure we have a place to dance and access to it, fundraising to keep the Club solvent, publicizing Twirler dances, conducting classes to try and grow the Club and planning events for Club members.

friends are invited to an afternoon of BUNCO followed by a POTLUCK DINNER and other GAMES. Don’t know how to play

Bunco? Muriel will reveal all. She and others claim it’s easy and fun. The Bunco will begin around 3:00; Bring a dish that will serve 8 and we’ll eat about 5:00. It’s at Jackie and Bill’s house; 30959 Del Rey Rd. in Temecula.

IT’S THAT ’DUES’ TIME OF YEAR

Our Treasurers, Dale, Alan and Ginny will be collecting Club dues for the 2015 – 2016 club year through the end of June. Dues are $15.00 a year for dancers (each) and $10.00 a year for non-dancers. Cash or Checks are accepted. Thank you for paying your dues before the end of the
