    IMPORTANT!

    This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between you and CanonInc. ("Canon") and governing your use of Canon's softwareprograms including the related manuals or any printed materialthereof (the "Software") for certain Canon's copying machines,printers and multifunctional peripherals (the "Products").

    READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONSDESCRIBED IN THIS AGREEMENT BEFORE USING THE SOFTWARE. BYCLICKING THE BUTTON INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE AS STATED BELOWOR USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS ANDCONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THEFOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT USE THESOFTWARE. NO REFUND WILL BE MADE BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE WASPROVIDED TO YOU AT NO CHARGE.

    1. GRANT OF LICENSECanon grants you a personal, limited and non-exclusive licenseto use ("use" as used herein shall include storing, loading,installing, accessing, executing or displaying) the Softwaresolely for the use with Products only on computers directly orvia network connected to the Products (the "DesignatedComputer").You may allow other users of other computers connected to yourDesignated Computer to use the Software, provided that you mustassure that all such users shall abide by the terms of thisAgreement and shall be subject to restrictions and obligationsborne by you hereunder.

    You may make one copy of the Software solely for a back-uppurpose.

    2. RESTRICTIONSYou shall not use the Software except as expressly granted orpermitted herein, and shall not assign, sublicense, sell, rent,lease, loan, convey or transfer to any third party theSoftware. You shall not alter, translate or convert to anotherprogramming language, modify, disassemble, decompile orotherwise reverse engineer the Software and you shall not haveany third party to do so.

    3. COPYRIGHT NOTICE

    You shall not modify, remove or delete any copyright notice ofCanon or its licensors contained in the Software, including anycopy thereof.

    4. OWNERSHIPCanon and its licensors retain in all respects the title,ownership and intellectual property rights in and to theSoftware.Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right,express or implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to

    you for any intellectual property of Canon and its licensors.

    5. EXPORT RESTRICTIONYou agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions andregulations of the country involved, and not to export orre-export, directly or indirectly, the Software in violation ofany such laws, restrictions and regulations, or without allnecessary approvals.

    6. NO SUPPORTNEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIRDISTRIBUTORS, OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS ARE RESPONSIBLEFOR MAINTAINING OR HELPING YOU TO USE THE SOFTWARE. NO UPDATES,FIXES OR SUPPORTS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE SOFTWARE.

    7. NO WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER OF INDEMNITY[NO WARRANTY] THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTYOF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOTLIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESSFOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY ANDPERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWAREPROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARYSERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.     8. TERMThis Agreement is effective upon your acceptance hereof byclicking the button indicating your acceptance as stated belowor using the Software and remains in effect until terminated.

    Log on as a user with administrator rights to install theprinter driver. The Full Control Permission is required forthe installation.

    5. Uninstalling the network printer which is connected toanother user (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista)

    When you execute the [Canon LBP5200 Uninstaller] on thecomputer that other user have already connected to the CanonLBP5200 network printer servers, information of the CanonLBP5200 network printer that other user connected will not beremoved. In this case, other user should remove his CanonLBP5200 printer icon before you execute uninstallation.

    6. Restriction on the Network Printer(Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista)

    When a network printer is installed on Windows2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista, even though you change its

    connection destination to a local port, the printer cannot beused as a local printer. If you need to use the printer as alocal printer, you must install a printer driver, selecting alocal port.

    7. Restarting Windows with a remaining print job(Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista)

    If you need to restart Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista witha remaining Canon LBP5200 print job, pause the print job fromthe printer folder.

    Then restart Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista.If you are using Windows 98/Me, the remaining Canon LBP5200print job will be deleted when shutting down Windows 98/Me.

    8. Downloading and Installing a Network Printer(Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista)

    When downloading and installing a network printer on Windows2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista, you need to install it as a userwith administrator rights.If the network printer is installed by a user without

    administrator rights, some functions may be unavailable due tothe restriction of operating system security.

    [Unavailable functions]- The Sound feature of Printer Status Window is not functioned

    properly.- Uninstaller cannot be registered in [Add/Remove Programs].

    9. Installation in a Multi-user Environment (Windows XP/Vista)

    When Canon LBP5200 is installed in Windows XP/Vista, do notinstall it for the user switched by the "Fast User Switching"function of Windows XP/Vista.When using the "Fast User Switching" function, be sure to logon again before installation.

    10. The Protected Mode of Internet Explorer (Windows Vista)

    If you are using Windows Vista and run Internet Explorer 7 byclicking the icon for [Explanation of Software] etc. in CD-ROMSetup, [Protected Mode] is set to [Off] regardless of thesettings.If you want to set [Protected Mode] to [On], exit InternetExplorer 7 once, and then run it again manually.

    11. Displaying the Printer Status Window in a Multi-user

    Environment (Windows XP/Vista)

    If the user is changed with the "Fast User Switching" functionof Windows XP/Vista, the printer status cannot be displayed inthe Printer Status Window. To display the status, log onagain, then open the Printer Status Window.

    12. CAPT Windows Firewall Utility

    If you are using an operating system equipped with WindowsFirewall, such as Windows XP Service Pack 2, as a print

    server, communication with the client computers is controlledby Windows Firewall. The [CAPT Windows Firewall Utility] is autility for configuring Windows Firewall to unblock or blockthis communication with the client computers.The [CAPT Windows Firewall Utility] is located in the[English] - [WF_UTIL] folder in the supplied [LBP5200 UserSoftware] CD-ROM.Refer to Chapter 8: "Windows Firewall" in the User's Guide formore details on the [CAPT Windows Firewall Utility].

    13. About the Client-Side Settings for Using the Printer Sharing

    Function

    If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 or anotheroperating system equipped with Windows Firewall on the clientside, configure the following settings. If you do not setupthe following settings on the client side, the printer statusmay not display properly in the Printer Status Window and youmay not be able to access some of the printer functions.(1) Display the [Windows Firewall] ([Windows Firewall

    Settings] for Windows Vista) dialog box.

    For Windows XP: From the [Start] menu, select [ControlPanel], and then click [Network and Internet Connections]-> [Windows Firewall].For Windows Server 2003: From the [Start] menu, select[Control Panel] -> [Windows Firewall].For Windows Vista: From the [Start] menu, select [ControlPanel], and then click [Allow a program through WindowsFirewall]. (If the [User Account Control] dialog boxappears, click [Continue].)

    (2) On the [Exceptions] sheet in the [Windows Firewall] dialogbox, place a checkmark next to [File and Printer Sharing],and click the [OK] button.

    14. Characters for the Printer Name (Windows Vista)

    When an "@" character is used in the name of the printer, theprinter will become unrecognizable by the operating systembecause of an invalid printer name thus disabling printing,operation and setup.

    15. Access Permission to the Printer Properties (Windows Vista)

    When you log on as a user with administrator rights who isdifferent from the one install the printer driver, you cannotaccess the printer properties as a user with administratorrights.To access the printer properties, right-click the icon for theprinter, and then select [Run as administrator].

    16. Printing Thin Lines (Windows Vista)

    In certain applications, thickness of a line can be set to avalue smaller than 1 pt but the actual thickness in theprintout may be equivalent to that of a 1 pt line.
